Y'know that moment where you're trying to capture a bus, and some person obliviously walks into your footage and then decides to have a go at you for it? I felt that pretty hard - it's frustrating. I'm loving the 221 shots though; I wish I took that route more often. I'm sad there's no focus on the 460 though. lol Just PB and WN mostly. And then also about the 82 - I never knew its allocation was strictly TPLs. I only started seeing the route around 2015, so I imagine the 2013 TEs had flooded it well by then. I love your archive of footage here though!

Thank You, yes the higher capacity TPLs were specifically for the 82 at PB. Guess the 460 was few and far between on this day, Lol

Highly polished footage Peter! North Finchley sure has changed a lot since my days of innocence. Quality stores like 'Argos' and 'Store 21' have infiltrated the old fashioned but genteel 'Owen-Owen'? When I was knee high to a wingnut, 'Owen-Owen' was the stuffy 'Priors' Department Store; the Gaumont was THE place to see a movie; the old Trolleybus Station was ideal for bus-spotting gurners; the 125 had RTs, 2 had RTLs, 104 was RML, 221 & 260 were RMs. Oh, and AE, FY, J & MH were worth visits....

I've lived here for 36 years. I remember: Adam's World PC store, spud-u-like, Wendy's burger, Rumbelows (went bust) Chix Chox still going strong.

Yes, that 'basement' thing is the bus station under a tall block of flats. I preferred the old bus station! The good old days, eh?

I hardly, in fact I don't, recognise where the Trolleybus/Bus station used to be. Oh, happy days!

You have too good a memory, Malcolm. Afraid it's Volvo's or Tridents these days, or a nice Enviro 400.

BristolRE Wow, you drove my bus! I am very interested to know what it is like to drive a bus, specially a huge double decker. If you have time could you write about what it is like? thanks!

Ben G Not much to say, really, I've been doing it for 29 years (and still am with Arriva on the 349 route), after so long it's second nature. Once you get to grips with the size, which actually isn't as daunting as you might think, the only other real problem are other road users who all want to get in front all the time. These days, with the theory test and everything, training can take up to 6 or 7 weeks, but when I done my training back in 86 with the old London Transport it took 3 weeks, passed first time, and that's it. A doddle really.

BristolRE I am only 36 so you probably drove me in my youth and throughout my life I would get the 263 from Highgate/Archway to Barnet to go to college. Funny story. As a young child I was on a bus when the driver suddenly screamed at someone for pressing the button even though someone had already pressed it. I grew up paranoid thinking that it is some taboo to press if it is already pressed. I was scared all my life, if I press when it already says "Bus Stopping" but it was not until age about 20 I thought, hmmm I think it was just that driver having a bad day. I doubt you would really get so angry..would you? But even today I have to brace myself when I press the button waiting for the scream that never comes, in case someone had already done so (and I can't see the display)....I think I'd like to be a bus driver more than a pilot. I am too nervous to do it.
