This works. Not sure why it works better than just self centering, but it worked for me. Used a single piece of an index card on each side of the rotor, squeezed brake, tightened the caliper bolts in small increments, let go, and the rotor is centered. This was after trying to do it manually for 30 minutes without success!

Thanks for the tip! It looks super useful. For anyone else watching, please don't touch your brake rotors with your fingers. You can contaminate your brake pads with finger oil, reducing your stopping ability.

Just use rubbing alcohol to clean rotors or pads... or sandpaper or both

Clarification- the business card goes In-between the brake pad and rotor ! He didn't specify that , and a lot of people are new to biking !

honestly this should be standard advice, it took a dozen caliper adjustment videos to come across this trick. Took me like 2 hours to adjust some cheap calipers without this trick.

This is a well known technique but the business card angle is new. Does is still work without the cards?

Great.... BUT, how do we adjust the CABLE??? I have been beating my head against the wall for the past hour labor two and I cannot get a system down that gets me a nice adjustment. I imagine it would be how we would change the cable and then adjust it...

There is the barrel adjuster, on sometimes both the caliper or the lever. You can adjust those, or adjust the caliper cable mounting bolt. I hope this helps 😃 👍.

I just loosen the calipers take out the pads take 4 thin credit cards to center the rotor to the calipers, once centered I tight the adjustment bolts (i do not touch the brakes), take out the cards and slide in the pads, . if I do it the way it was described in the video. the brakes and rotor are centered but the calipers will be off and run up on the rotor making a random noise that sounds like large washer spinning around a bolt to the tune of a cricket in heat.

Why wouldn't you just slacken off the two retaining bolts, then squeeze the brake so it clamps inline with the rotor then nip the bolts backup, their is absolutely no need for process from my experience, am I missing something?

I did that and now it touches the rotor

Nice 1 how about noisy disk brake even though it is properly aligned and not contaminated

You may have to bring ur break pads a little closer to the disc that's how I stopped mine from making noise

How do the pistons not just up squeeze up, causing rubbing next time you pull the brake after removing the cards

Helpful video, the camerawork made it confusing sometimes.

Well, yea,... don't compare my short help video with anything even semi-production-quality... This was just me trying to help fellow RadWagon or maybe even other bicycle amateurs... 🤔🤓😜
