To be honest, while the mall service corridors are usually considered restricted areas, the woman really had no business asking what you were up to; given that she appeared to only be an employee of one of the malls individual stores and not someone representing the property (security guard, mall manager, etc). I’ve just recently begun Venturing into the service corridors at the malls around my area to ride freight elevators, and If something like this happened, I’d be a little irritated myself.

You shouldn’t be on them anyway. She’s not a jurk she’s following policy. I’m a supervisor at Macy’s. I can tell your not over 18 your a kid it seems like. Some states have laws that you need to be 18 to operate. If you do ride them don’t take more than one ride. Just ride it and get out.

You are right, I am not over 18, I am a freshman in high school. Which is better, because if the absolute worst were to happen (which it can't because I have a reputation to defend, but if it did), the juvenile record could be expunged at 18. And yes, I know that I was overreacting by calling her a jerk. It was the heat of the moment, I guess.

I always try not to tell people what I'm doing when I'm filming the elevator because I feel embarrassed, so I try to avoid people when taking a video. Although I shouldn't be embarrassed since everyone has their interests, but you probably should have just shut the door and kept going after it opened, would have been funny, lol.

I’m going to be honest. I don’t think she was rude at all. I will admit I do freights which isn’t the best thing to do but we also need to understand that if they tell us that we can’t ride the freights, they are just doing their job.

This could have been a LOT worse in my opinion, like she could have kicked you out or pressed a charge for trespassing. I understand you were a little nervous when she asked you questions, but If they ever ask why you’re making a video, you can say “I’m an elevator enthusiast and I love to take videos of them..” or something like that. I mean you’re being honest like u said in the video and there’s nothing wrong with that
@VancityElevators

Unfortunately in today's society, not a lot of people know what is an "elevator/lift enthusiast". Although if you do get someone nice, explaining this factor makes it easier but that is really luck based. This is based on my experience riding freights and when exploring service passages. Nervousness these days become an easy target for the victim because they can easily tell that the victim (knows) to not be in here. I usually try to act more like im a clueless or a tourist from another country rather than trying to be nervous. A tip for everyone (imo): If you see someone, I would immediately start a conversation saying things like im lost or where is the bathroom rather than having the person explaining to you what are you doing there.
