This inspection took place around 4 pm on Tuesday the 28th May.
So much going on in the bee yard it is starting to be a bit perplexing.
Understanding what can happen if left unattended for too long, and im still worried. I started this season with 2 healthy colonies, 2 hives and now I am at 8 hives, not all queen right, so they have work to do. I introduced 2 new queens to 2 colonies I am 99% sure didnt have a queen, one of which was released within 30 hrs by the bees, maybe I should have left the tab on for 2 days, the other queen still has not been released by the bees.
things to think about and look for
Small hive beetles, smash them
wax moth, pull frame and freeze it
queen cells, make splits
look for different stages of brood, eggs, larvae, capped brood
nectar and honey, do they have enough or too much
Pollen, do they have any
bees, do they have enough bees to cover the frames, if not you invite pests
swarming, try to prevent swarming by manipulating frames and making splits
Ideally locate the queen
Anyway thanks for joining me on my 3rd season adventure of beekeeping.
