Same as me. Moreover, my father, who was a Japanese native speaker, also said "shikashi" quite often, in daily situations. So I am not very sure about this distinction between formal and informal conversation in Japanese.

@@leavewe Well, according to the video, you obviously can, and it's more natural too. The other two は are not used as topic marker, but contrast markers. I have a question. While watching a Japanese video with subtitles, I came across this sentence: 自然に入ってると思うん ですけどでもか考えちゃいますね (note that the subtitles were auto-generated and therefore they're probably incorrect to some degree.) ですけ and どで are both used. Why is this?
@Yotanido
4 жыл бұрын
That particular sentence doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but here are some possible explanations of where you might find both: 1. The subtitles are wrong. You should go back and listen to what they actually say. Don't rely on machine transcription, it's... pretty bad. 2. They started the sentence, forgot what to say halfway through and then decided to start a new sentence. This is not as unlikely as you might think. 3. You can actually end a sentence with けど or が. You are kind of implying the second part without actually saying it. This is especially common if you are asking someone for something. (すみません、トイレを探しているんですが… Excuse me, I'm looking for the toilet, but...) You don't want to be too direct and just ask them for directions, so you are just implying it. Anyway, if you have a sentence like this, you could start another one with でも after that, most likely modifying the previous half-sentence in some way. This will be rather obvious when you hear it spoken and very hard to decode in writing :D
@reinmv4300

@@Yotanido Thank you so much for your effort in this reply! 1. You're totally correct, my question was about the でも and けど part (;. But your explanations are great. I assumed something like what you anwsered but now, a month later I have clarification. Thank you
