We're done just handing out whatever we have available at our social kitchen. We're done with the weird "well, at least they get something" excuse. We're adding a zero tolerance policy to the question, "shouldn't they just be grateful?"
Here's what we're going for: "do unto others what you would want them to do to you."
That's the guiding principle.
And why we're working on a solidarity market. A space where our elderly participants can come and shop for free. They can take the beans they like. Choose the fresh fruits and vegetables that are delicious (and beneficial for their health). Add the over-the-counter medication they can't afford, plus adult diapers, reading glasses, etc.
Not a handout, but an opportunity.
For dignity.
HELP US BUILD IT: donorbox.org/t...
The crisis is ongoing. We keep finding elderly people living in inhumane conditions.
Natural disasters combined with man-made disasters have brought us here. But we're committed to being part of the solution and improving on those solutions, over, and over, and over again (watch the 2 minute video above for our clearest explanation yet).
Please help us finish this project! As we continue cooking, farming, re-building homes and serving the poorest of the poor ... Your giving is our fuel.
