Good choice with the Jackson. The only brand I've played since 2005

i'd take the solar, had one with evertune and didn't like the evertune, but... look at the strings on the jackson and the solar. straight strings just works better for staying in tune. the cracked fretboard thing hasn't been reported in the facebook user group in over a year, but there are sometimes qc blemishes that get through. i'd still take the solar and plan to get another eventually.

I dont know happiest day for me was the day i purchased my solar the second happiest day was when i sold it lol. I did not like the neck on the solar. I would take a jackson over a solar any day of the week. It's all about the neck feel for me.

What about comparing Jackson all four series: the concept series made in korea (the soloist walnut adds a original floyd rose) with Duncans, the Made in Japan series with Gotoh and dimarzios, the Jackson american virtuoso with floyd 1500 and Duncans, and the Pro Plus series made in China, with floyd 1000, duncans and stainless steel frets?? That would be a brutal comparison.

Shitman Flatulence is kind of a dealbreaker. I had a V1.6afbb and V1.6 Vinter and i cannot get along with the Shitman Flatulence. swapping out the electronics was too much of a hassle for what its worth.

I never got the hype for Fishman. Like it's okay but not the end all be all of pickups. I'm a Seymour Duncan type dude and I like emgs but Fishman is literally just hype and everyone was jumping on the bandwagon

@@allworksnew they sound like utter shit. i guess they make some sense for those that like to downtune to where the notes are inaudible but i’d make the case that if u feel the need to do that, guitar is not your instrument

I think the Fishmen Moderns sound alright if you want clarity but they lack a lot of low end that I would get from a set of Blackouts or EMG 81s. I try to EQ my amp and adjust my overdrive boost to make up for the low end from the Fishmen Moderns but I just couldn't.

I love my Jackson JS22 by far the perfect starter guitar for me but solar has nice stuff for ok prices...Though I do love the whole ranges of Jacksons like the custom shop you have a wide varity of choice at the non bispoque teir in terms of heardwear for an good price... So I lean heavly in the Jackson camp more so then any other.

If you find your thumb is sticking to a gloss neck then there's a really cheap solution to that. You're gripping it too hard.

Both companies have bad QC but in my opinion, Solar is far worse. I may be able to deal with things like paint flaws or grounding (easy fix) but cracked fretboards are a red flag for me. I played and owned a good amount of Indonesian Jacksons, some are great and some had those flawed paintjobs but none of them had cracked fretboards.

I haven't seen Jackson put out a good guitar unless it was a high end american, and even then if you ask me for the pricing it falls short. So many better options. Solar, well I've heard many horror stories. Like cracked fretboards 😂

I'd take the solar mainly because I like the reverse headstock. It makes bending notes easier on the higher strings while the lower string are tighter for lower tunings.
@genghisghost

if that’s the case with your guitars then you need something called a guitar nut, you might have heard of those. They make it so that all the strings are the same length from the saddle.

not to mention the locking kind that come with floyds

Why do people still give props to manufacturers adding locking tuners on guitars with floyds ?
@nikaxeguitar

Because they’re awesome when you change the strings. Locking timers do nothing for locking the strings down like a Floyd
@interwebuser

@@nikaxeguitar On a regular non locking or fixed bridge, I completely agree. But on a floyd rose, you just need to pass the string through the tuner, through the locking nut, cut the excess and clamp it in it's respective hole. The ball end will sit on the tuner and prevent the string from slipping making tuning a breeze.
@nikaxeguitar

wait, so you run the ball end through the tuner first? So its anchored in there? @@interwebuser

I own that exact Jackson and it does not have stainless steel frets. I've played it for two years and there are marks already. Also the pearl binding doesn't go around the neck. Machine heads are half ok and half rubbish but I can live with them since it's a Floyd so you've got to use the fine tuners.

Just tested out this exact Jackson a few days ago. I didn't find any quality issues on it. Having a 2013 Indonesian Jackson I can say that Indonesian built guitars and the Chinese Jacksons I also tested were night and day in terms of QC. Long story short I was horrified at the condition the Chinese Jacksons were allowed to leave the factory. I blame fender, the General Motors of guitar companies. Buys the competition, milks it dry and then runs it to the ground to raise its own market share.
