This amp is a piece of shit. You get what you pay for and for 60 something pounds I guess its not bad if you are just starting but you aren't going to be getting any of your favorite guitar players tones. Ever. That can be a turn of to people learning guitar, by not being able to achieve a proper tone (for example a lead tone) creates a situation where no matter what you do you are limited. A solid state clean tone is no indication of a good amp.

@Castlehill650 hey, you boutique snob. first of all, at the risk of sounding like a troll, the only people that post comments spewing hate like yours are the ones that lack the talent to back it up. I never post comments but for some reason yours really got under my skin. Sure, this amp is nothing special, but it wasnt designed to be used in a studio. it was built to be an affordable multi-functional entry level combo for entry level teenagers- like my 12 year old nephew that I bought this amp for after he had grown up watching me play. the point of me posting this Is to let you know that anyone that has the desire, drive, and wherewithal to become a seasoned player has to start on something. and a true master can make a plank of wood and a spider 3 sound like your tiny dick substitute marshall full stack bullshit. play for the love of it. not for how pretty you think your way too expensive rig looks sitting in your spare bedroom in front of your Rush posters, you fucking poser.

Wow dude, you made this amp sound awesome! Not sure if it's the mic placement or your great playing, but you're really making me regret that I sold this amp haha. I got the half stack and it's the best solid state amp I heard, great for budget musicians and who wants to have a clean hassle free recording tones, and the spider 4s have the ability for usb recording, and building custom settings in pod farm, and it also has the ability to mod any sound in the amp.

I picked one of these up a couple of weeks ago, to replace an old Gorilla amp that had given up the ghost. I mostly use the clean channel, with a Blackout Tele, and I like it a lot and plan on playing restaurant and lounge gigs, with it. I have been playing guitar, for 50 years. As far as people laughing at me, I think they would laugh more, if I showed up with a huge Marshall stack to play oldies, in a small venue.

Ha! Nice one mate. I'm waiting on delivery of the amp for a mate who's younger than me. So what if you're an old git, so am I. Let 'em laugh, and ignore them. I've been playing for 37 years though, self-taught, flaws and all. Now I'm using a basic home studio that cost stupid money, and posting it on the net. Never got over stage fright, tried to deal with it using alcohol and class A's. Now I'm in recovery, and I feel fine. Rusty as hell on the guitar though. Keep on rockin'.......................dude!

I like the way you play guitar. Well, I bought this amp few weeks ago and I´m very impressed of it. The latest Spider IV is in a way much more a computer solution. Therefore you spend more time in connecting via usb and looking on your Screen than playing your Instrument. The more I like the older one, I love it. You said " If you nice to the shop keeper... he will give it to you for a 60 Pounds" - i got it for 38 Euros and cannot get enough of it. Your Video was very helpful for my decision. I would like to add a comment : I plugged an alesis guitarFX into it (AUX in) and take the "tube clean" amp simulation, a little bit of CHORUS and REVERB, gain 30%. The sound is very close to a typical Fender Blackface (Princeton or Deluxe Reverb). Michael says, that the 8" speaker sounds much bigger than its size - I´m of the same opinion and the open design of the amp gives me the sound I love.

I've owned this amp for 12 years and it was the first one I ever owned! I bought another since the first one I bought was lost. Look I have people tell me that it sounds better then my fender tube amp in certain low volume situations. Bottom line is if you are looking for a versatile affordable amp that sounds good and can take a beating this is the one I mean man I have played 1000 plus hours into mine paired with a fender stratocaster (91' American custom) it really is the best spider line 6 ever made the quality is better without all the bells and whistles that they applied into later versions. You can really impress with this amp trust me!

Best stomp box I have ever had. I run a Jackson Dinky with a Seymour Duncan SH8 Invader through this, with a 2 button footswitch, and run a lead from the headphone socket to my Marshall JMP 100W master volume and into a Laney 300 watt quad. After an hour in the studio playing with both amps I set the tones and now take it to every gig. I can't aford an Axe-Fx, but this combination comes pretty close. Valve headroom with digital FX. Btw I play hardcore and punk. Cheers.

@CallOfDuty14ful I had the same problem until I downloaded the instructions and learned how to do a reset, you will also learn how to store your own settings/sounds for each of the four channels. It comes from the factory pre-adjusted to what they figure sounds best. E.G., the clean setting has a couple of effects automatically when you first turn it on, My idea of a clean setting means NO EFFECTS AT ALL, so I reprogrammed mine to sound this way as soon as I turn it on, GOOD LUCK!!

Im not a big fan of the default settings, atleast for my Epiphone Les Paul Studio Alpine White. The clean one is pretty amazing, has a lot of sound to it, especially bass. The thing that is kinda irritating is how hard it is to give that full roomy sound to the crunch preset, or a overdrive preset you make yourself. If you play clean, then switch over, it can easily sound flat. IF you tweak it right though, its all good. Combine it with a dropped tuning, and its dope! Lot of sustain on the drive

Anyone in 2024, Spider 3 75W+ has a dedicated reverb, you can find the 75W+ models for under 100 bucks then go for it. Pedals are expensive and you just wanna play? This is it. Your next go to is digital modelling (interface and VST3) which can go up to the 300-800$ range that being the price of a full head. I use a Line6 spider III and Scarlett 2i2, along with a small volume mixer into Fl studio with Guitar rig 7 loaded and that's a lot. But as a solo learning to gig, any of those components you can take 1 by 1. Spider 3 only? Good effects! Only have an interface? There are tones of free digital moderators. Fl studio? No problem. a recording is all you need! All 3? Now you can do whatever you need to (Within a tonal reasoning)

1. yes dude 2. a locking nut is as seen here at the top of the fretboard. its a compulsory item for floyd rose bridges as it stops the strings going out of tune. you can have the nut locked and you can turn the machine heards to make it go out of tune but it will not go out of tune. if the locking nut is tightened too tight then the nut will push down into the strings which would cut into the fretboard.

Sorry, but people, you're all idiots, every single one of you who says it sucks, it's not. It's a good amp for beginners and practicing, it's not meant to be played with at shows or anything, if you wanna do that get a Mesa, yes, Peavey Vypyrs are better, but still, this is good for what it's made for.

I got the bigger version of this ( 75 watts ) and I what can I say is I can sound the same as mike casswell ( the guy from the video ). Its not only about the amp. Go check your pickup, cables you use and strings. All of these contributes to tone. There's one guitar player who plays with steve vai says steve vai sounded like steve vai even he uses a cheap old squier and a pignose amp. Tone is in the head not in your equipment.
