For what it’s worth, I’ve lived about ten-to-twelve blocks from the official Chicago city limit for 39 years now, always just a few blocks from one el stop or another, spent my adolescence riding the el and buses to parties and shows everywhere all over the city at all hours of the night, continue going to plays and concerts in my adulthood on public transportation everywhere, walking to the grocery store or to friends’ places or just around … and I’ve not been the victim of a crime once? And my mom’s lived here even longer, not far from my current place, and she’s got a more active social calendar than I do, and she’s also never been the victim of a crime while living here - although she had her pocket picked, while with her own mom, traveling through Egypt in the early ‘60s … but for this comment that doesn’t count. And before she died (aged 98) my grandmom lived in a third-floor walk-up, since the ‘40s, in the same general neighborhood we moved to (close family!), and she was probably the most active member of our family: her apartment did get robbed in 1982 - we suspected a handyman who used the excuse of repairing her sink to scope out her apartment, then later rob it, but we couldn’t prove it - and she was also never the victim of a violent crime … and she was a committed walker, and a nutty adventurer, all her life. (Didn’t have to enter hospice until a few months before she died, too! Walking those three stories every day kept her in shape.) Now, that’s all anecdotal data, but the point is: if I watched certain news programs, I’d think the world outside my front door was perpetually on fire; it’s really not. Fact is. I wouldn’t trade my life here for anything! So if you like the exurbs or the suburbs or the wilderness, then get down with your bad self and groove in your exurb/suburb/wilderness. Good for you. But people also love city life: there’s a reason we all flocked to Paris, Chicago, Tokyo, Oslo, Rio, NYC, etc., in the first place! The populations here wax and wane as real estate prices fluctuate, driven by demand, but we love it here, and - provided a city isn’t dependent on a single dying industry - people migrate to major cities all over the world quite reliably. I don’t know what certain public figures gain by ginning up hysteria around city living - votes, I suppose? based on tribalism? - but the picture they paint of our home is unrecognizable to those of us living here. Come visit and ask confirmed residents face-to-face what they think of Chicago, and the answer you’ll get is that we live here because it’s great and we love it!

My Dad was from Laramie and went to the U of Wyoming. Our family owned thousands of acres in the area near Chugwater. Folks from Wyoming are hard headed and very independent and Wyoming is not for everybody. If you want to move there and get into the dream of a plot of land and Bison in your yard, get over yourself quickly. Also, remember that there is a reason that under 600K people live in the State - the weather is brutal and if you do not like the cold - do not come to Wyoming. Snow in June is not an uncommon thing there, especially at higher altitudes. Also, folks in Wyoming love to take people from "back East" for a ride and sell them plots of land that cannot be used for anything, as there is water, septic, and road access to your dream plot that need to be addressed when you buy there. Then there is medical care, which in Wyoming is a crap shoot for quality depending on where you end up and how far you are from a major city. Lots to think about, but if you have 700K to spend on a house and 5-10acres, you might do ok, except in Teton County (Jackson).

Hey everyone. I’m in the military and am looking at buying land in Wyoming with my VA home loan. I have no one to talk to that lives there, so that I can become better informed on even the most basic questions. KZitem videos are sparse and google is no help. Would someone be willing to let me ask them questions about this?

@@SaiyanBrothazPodcast There are several questions I have about WY, so I appreciate you taking the time to reply to me. The places I’m aware of are Casper, Gillette, Jackson, Laramie, Rock Springs, and Cheyanne. Everyone says that the wind is really bad in Wyoming, so I was wondering what regions of the state the wind is the worst? I know that most places in Wyoming are small so jobs can be sparse in some areas. I have both the qualifications of a chemist and a supply chain manager, where would I likely find opportunities. What places are the gems of Wyoming and the best to live? I know Jackson is where all the billionaires live so that probably a bit out of my price range of 750,000. I want to build my dream home and get a lot of acres. I don’t want to be too far from an airport (more than 2ish hours). I want a place with decent public or private schools. I don’t need a big city, but some chains would be nice for grocery stores and quick food. My wife and I also love nature and national forests/parks. What are the pros and cons of the place I said above? Again, thank you for taking the time to help me figure out some information on where I want to move to.

Im so happy youre speaking about preserving youre land. We have seen the Californians and others coming here to Texas and it has created a series of driving our costs up, crime up and wildlife as we knew it and the beauty that was ,is being torn up. It has become and becoming over populated with crazy traffic and everything, I personally hate .They call it progress I call it lack of respect. I hope yall keep keeping it real. Brother protect your land and lifestyle. Texas aint Texas anymore.everything that made Texas proud is almost gone. Now its all about the money.

I love Wyoming so much. But the part of the state that’s neglected. Guernsey, Torrington are amazing. I really don’t care that it’s not Jackson Hole. I love it. And I hate Coloradans too 😂😂 just kidding

Teton area will always be pricy regardless, but people are gonna run out of money to pay all that they acquired during the past 3y, they gonna have to sell those xtra property they got during the low interest hype. When inventory reaches a desired level, it will be a buyer' s market again and we are almost there. I cant wait to leave the city and get back to the land, depopulated, no city ordinances, no HOAs, no anti freedom anti guns Karens.

Wyoming is ground zero when Yellowstone explodes. Why on earth would anyone take the risk and cost you an arm and a leg. Over rated I say and hyped for dubious reasons. A state that registers LLCs with sealed ownerships, you can bet that your neighbors are not who they say they are. Beware the underbelly of a place the boasts rich people as elevated citizens.

Bought a 1/2 acre of raw , scruffy land and outside of Laramie in Centennial back in '96 for $5k and since i never used or built anything on it (and was assured that the land wouldn't blow away), decided to sell it. Sold it last year for $75k wi a month of listing it. People are desperate for any land in WY. Decided to take that and buy some land in the ozarks of Arkansas. Remember that even if you want and can accept the difficulties of living in WY, your spouse may not be able to.
