you are the v embodiment of the argument against hair as a whole. I'd weep if you grow ur hair out. women w cheekbones do themselves a disservice by having long hair. I can look like edie sedgwick or mila kunis depending on my haircut. they're my doppelgängers. but I find myself infinitely more feminine when I have my edie sedgwick modern 60's pixie than when my hair's up to my back. I feel the same way abt halle berry, charlize theron, lupita nyong'o, natalie portman. and fwiw, you're lovely to watch. You Said you have a sensitive area in your scalp due to overbleaching. I never thought about that but could it be that I have the same problem? Since a year my hair always breaks off at the top of my head when bleached. And if it doesn’t break off right after bleaching it will do over a course off the month. I have buzzed my head now because I couldn’t stand the look of the broken off hairs. 😄 I guess I must give bleaching a break and in the future only get highlights so it doesn’t touch the scalp.

Hi Michela! We have to be understanding to our parents. They were brought up in a completely different environment where a woman would never cut her hair this short. It only takes some getting used to for her probably and you want to give her that time. On the same hand be stubborn about it, have an open conversation and I have to admit a reassuring smile can help. Sending lots of love your way! ❤️

What is femininity tho? If you really think about it the social concept of femininity and masculinity is made up. Yes, we have physical and behavioral traits of femininity and masculine that are absolute, inherent and incontestable but even those traits are manipulated. Natural facts exist but how we interpret them is still thought and considered with fabricated concepts. And the social concept of femininity is not only made up but made up by men.. so honestly, for me now, if you are female - regardless of how you dress, behave, look like - you are feminine. This is my personal concept of femininity: what is linked to females. I wish all women to feel comfortable on their skin and not pressed to look in a certain way, behave in a certain way, speak in a certain way, think in a certain way in order to maintain our feminine identity.
@alexcooke4676

Dear Celine, I have been buzz cutting my hair for almost 3 years. I will be turning 75 soon, and I just wanted to encourage you, you will never have to worry if you can carry off a buzz cut when you get old. The reason being, there are exactly the same compliments, and also concerns, from others, no different than when your young. And by the time your older, you will care even less if some want you to grow out your hair, because you are going to love it as much then, just as you love it now. And the good experiences always seem to outweigh any bad. I feel it helps us break free of a stereotypical ideal, which I feel is healthy. You are a beautiful example of womanhood and femininity❤, blessings

Thank you for this comment. I am 75, and I have been working towards an ultimate buzz cut for about 6 months, cutting my hair shorter and shorter. I just got it buzzed, and I love it! I got so sick of trying to cover up bald spots, thinning hair, and especially the time it took to maintain my hair with little positive results. The moment I saw all that thin, fine hair, falling away, I felt free. I especially love being free of the steriotypical look. This is a very healthy action for me, and I'm a senior.

Okay, this is my third edit on this comment: I am absolutely sure that Celine's intention is not to be ageist or in any way hurtful. I would like to invite her to unpack why she would have this cut "until the wrinkles are too deep"? Our faces need to be distracted from more when they show signs of aging? How is that working for any of us, young or old? Either you live in fear of when your body "fails" and shows aging or feel shame that it is already doing so. If readers are having trouble seeing my point, transpose in something else you already know is an "-ism" that you reject -- like "I can have this haircut until my skin is too dark" -- you would never say that. I want to be kind in this response while also sharing that hearing that comment hurt.

Buzzed my hair one year ago, one of the best decisions of my life. The only regret I have is having waited so long to do it. Hair had always been pretty annoying to me or at least unsatisfaying, but I had not realized how unattached I was to it until the day I buzzed it off. This could be written by me. I never really liked my hair and didn't like a visit to the hairdresser either. So I buzzed my hair almost six years ago (May 2018), went from 6cm to 13mm. Okay, it was pretty cold, but I've never felt more happy with my hair than ever before. About a year later I went to 10mm and now it's 6mm. Still cold sometimes, but I've always loved beanies, so in winter I always wear a beanie outside. I've never had any regrets and no stupid reactions either. I'm almost 48 and now I can say "this is who I am and I like how I am". My mom didn't like it at first, too bad for her, it's my hair and I was 42 at the moment. And the more she said "grow your hair", the more often I grabbed our Wahl 2000, that will teach her 😂 Now she's used to it. She has no choice... 😉

A big secret of making a buzz cut look really cool is having great eyebrows. It frames the face. I buzzed my hair, even as I guy, I was like,”I wow, I barely have eye brows?!!!” So I legit put just a touch of eyebrow makeup just to fill in, but not very noticeable overall. Thank you so much for this video! I've had my pixie now for 16 years. Twice I considered growing it out and found myself depressed once I reached an A-line bob, which is as long as I was willing to go. So for those that ask "Are you going to grow it out?" Never! If anything I'll go shorter as I get older. As for femininity, like you, I feel much more feminine and empowered with short hair. I've even told men who told me I'd look sexier with it long (not), that I wasn't their ideal woman, they needed to look elsewhere. I LOVE my short hair, and WISH I could wear it as short as you do! You are GORGEOUS, graceful, sexy AF, and more! I am so happy you know your power!

This look is totally your signature style, Celine! It really brings your face and you have good hair line, When I found you on Instagram I though you're a fashion model. I laughed at that chemo/sickness stereotype, few days ago there is a twitter thread and one user replied with her buzzed hair and people replied to her photo with something "get well soon" "i hope you're okay" but she commented back she just wanna have fun with no hair mode 😂 I once almost buzzed my hair, you know in undercut style, but still leave the long part and my mom gone mad because of that 🙈. About 2 years after the buzz, the part I had buzzed grows softer than I expected and I kinda like it. I really want to chop off again and go into that less/no hair mode someday. I think a good scalp care regime or makeup video will be good next time (because there are few videos here of buzzed/bald people who put makeup on their head). Love you Celine 💖✨

I feel more feminine since I haven't any hair to hide behind. Empowerment is extremely feminine! I've had the most wonderful conversations with people who think I've had chemo. I spent 30 mins once in a book store talking with another lady about her family member who has cancer. I think the most issues I've had is with my own mother wanting me to grow it in! ps, my Hubs loves it the shorter I go! Life is too short to spend so much time in the salon or in front of a mirror trying to style it! I haven't had long hair for about 10 years, and wasted so much money on products for my hair that did nothing to keep my super fine limp locks in place!

This is likely the most in depth and personality=plus buzz cut video tutorial/question and answer I have ever watched. Honey ... you look fab with a buzz cut and let me tell you that you keep it shorter and tighter than a friend of mine in the NE USA. Now she went shorter and shorter over the years and did not buzz cut until late 30s and tried fades and stuff until Covid era and now has gone back to the buzz cut. She is in her early 40s I think, works out, loves the outdoors and sees no reason to not rock the buzz cut. She rocks it. A lot of women older than that age go buzz cut in 50s and even 60s cause why not and they are simply tired of having hair to mess with lol. If you love it and it makes you feel good ... lines and aging do not matter. My beloved Sinead O'Connor though troubled and grieving the loss of her son ... still rocks the buzz cut and has said she does not feel her self if it gets shaggy. You go girl!!! You are a buzz cut beauty/angel/queen bee

Anyhow it is in our society expected that women have long hair. But this is an old-fashioned and narrow-minded attitude, for which is absolutely no rational reason. So it's good that there are some women like you, who are so courageous and liberated to ignore this. Most women do not have the courage for a buzz cut. You are a nice woman and you look gorgeous with the ultra short haircut. Perhaps some women are also inspired to do this now. You are really a great lady.

You are beautiful. Scarring alopecia has been a battle for multiple years for me and I have finally made the decision for my long-term hair stylist to donate what hair I have and to shave it all off next Tuesday. I originally was going to get my hair trimmed and a keratin treatment. I've changed it up with her and already talked to her. I am ready to show my scars from multiple surgeries and not be sad about alopecia and all my hair loss. Very few know and my Mom doesn't. It will be a surprise next Tuesday for her. Lol! I've been bald before so I am ready. Please let me know what products I should buy to maintain it and have a healthy scalp. You are beautiful and worthy. Happy New Year!

Lovely video, its so refreshing to hear how long you've kept your hair so short! I've just buzzed mine for the second time and it really is so freeing and so honest. I've been going through years of intense therapy and by far, the buzz cut has been a very tangible, healing step in my journey to embrace my whole self. To look in the mirror and see only me has brought me to a place of such compassion for myself and for others. The power of the buzz cut! Loving your content and looking forward to more moments like these when I can love myself and share that everytime someone asks me about my hairstyle choice. Thank you for sharing xxxxx

You are so on point. I wear my hair buzzed cut and I absolutely love it. I have been praying for my husband to love it with me. It's so liberating and once you are completely comfortable in your own skin and know what you like you care less and less about others opinions. Especially as you get older. I will be 59 this year and I love my hair off. By the way you look amazing with your buzz cut.

Hi Celine I love your video on shaving your head You look awesome. I regularly get a crew cut usually a 1 all over. I do it for a couple reasons I have a lot of grey hair and it is so hot here in South Florida. Since the corona crisis they closed all the barber shops and I just ordered some hair clippers so I can give myself a buzz cut Thank you Roger from Miami Beach

I dream of having a girlfriend like you who is really into maintaining a buzzcut without thoughts of growing it out. Watching your video is very informative and hearing your wonderful accent is delightful! If I am ever blessed to meet a woman who is willing to get a buzzcut like yours, I will be sure to show her your tutorial. Thank you so much!

The gay and the chemo ments are on the daily. I live in the Midwest where gender norms are pretty strict which sucks. I am LGBTQ but was buzzed before I came out. The cancer comments get old after like 15 years imo. Also strangers asking to touch your head!😮

I'm 16 I want a buzz cut so bad,,, my hair is so effing greasy no matter how much or how little I wash it, I've changed shampoo's and oils and nothing works, so I wear it up all the time, if I wear my hair down one day of the week it's surprising,, my hair is middle of shoulder blade length and I never get to wear it down and it's so heavy, I'm sick of it, and it gets so hot and gives me headaches,, I can sway my mom because she understands what it's like to have alot of hair and she's constantly wears her's up to so she know other than the greasy part because she doesn't have that gene,, but my dad doesn't understand, he will say it's a trend or I want to be gay, I don't ether of those,, Im just sick of this McDonald's french fry head 😭😭

One question, do you apply sunscreen to your scalp on a daily basis? I had my hair buzzed when I was 17, but didn't keep the cut for long as I had issues with my mother because of this. I've been considering the idea of buzz cutting my hair again as I'm annoyed by my irregular hair length due to quarantine. But as I'm obese now I'm not sure what I will look like.

Dear madam ! Well done, your decision is best, I hate that braid or tuft or plait or etc.. long hair systems, long hair is too much work to take care of it, haircut is not really femininity stereotype distroying, as it is so common, a woman doe's not need long hair to be feminine. thanks you very much.

I've wanted to shave my head for many years now, because I hate the way long hair makes me look, it's very tiring to mantain and gets very greasy in two days. I have a short boyish pixie now, but the idea or a buzzcut always comes back. Sadly, I have quite a big (I can put five fingers in it) and round forehead, and my hairline receeds a little bit in, which is also not very suitting. I suffer avoidant personality disorder, and cutting my hair so short has already been a pretty big challenge for me since I feel more exposed and I can't just hide my face in any hair, but I would just get rid of it all if my hairline didn't make me feel so insecure. I would love to feel both the hair/wind and water in my scalp... it's an experience I want to gain, but the idea of not feeling pretty or apropriate terrifies me so much. (Sorry if I had any error, english is not my first language and some words are tricky for me ;v;) EDIT: I buzzed my head and I love it! I should have done it sooner :v

I buzzed my hair july 30, this year, after having it so long, but I was having hair loss, probably clogged folicules due to bunch of dry shampoo and stuff... Never in my life had experienced so much of a hair loss so it was like you know what.... Lets have a fresh, clean start... Cause I tried hair masks, hair toners and nada.. So I told my brother, shave my head, I can't handle this hair loss any longer it was becoming more frustrating so... I wanted Mad Max and he went V for Vendetta cause he was like I don't what number is that one... I do have my hair in a bag, because of the length I had, I am going to donate it... My objective is to grow it out, to be healthier and stronger and I do feel it a bith thicker than it used to be, but I did love my first 2 weeks so definitely I will do it again in the future. Its been 1 month and I want to buzz it again hahaha so yes I will do it again in the future. You are awesome!!!! 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻 Keep rocking!!
