I think it's more like she shows you that no thought is actually true since the opposite of any given thought can be true as well. So basically no thought is true and then she brings your attention back to within your body , out of the mind, and you discover a greater wisdom there beyond the duality of thought. To me , that is reality.

Her questioning and clarifying, brought an understanding to "The Work". Especially when this type of Spiritual learning, wasn't really mainstream back then. Thank you

I am trying to understand the relationship with the bug and her waking up to the bug cross over her...where her body...her leg...did she jump...did the bug jump off...or did the bug wake her up and she just allowed it to keep moving on her body ??????
@baldapo-artist-performer
Жыл бұрын
Simpler than that, it woke her up to the reality of now, the cockroach crossing her toe, not the heavy loaded thoughts and story her mind was wondering in, that woke her up literally and at all level, becoming aware of the room, everything that was there around her, that's all it was and that bug moving through, nothing else, nothing of what she was thinking about, none, and she started laughing, and all what she was heavily watching and believing in her mind was just a movie, not reality but a movie she manufactured keeping her away from reality. As she became aware of that, the shift occurred for her.

As I understood from listening to her on another podcast (Russell Brand's), when she was lying on the floor the sensation of something going over her foot was felt. She made the thought that it must have been a cockroach but that made her realise this thought is an assumption based on her circumstances (on the floor), her perception of her self/her foot and her prior experiences. So it's the thoughts that she had about what's happening that made it what it is, and she realised that's true of negative thoughts in life generally. Hope this helps (sorry am a rambler!) x

@@3bonavista you are making assumptions about what is going on in Oprah's mind and heart, which you have no way of knowing to be true! If what you say were true, why would Oprah invite Byron Katie in the first place? This comment is more of a reflection on you, and the state of your own mind, than about Oprah (or Byron Katie). Why frame a conversation as a 'war'? is this how you experience your own life? Is this the filter of aggression and combat and better/ lesser than power struggles you want to project into the world? Have you considered how much courage it takes for Oprah to make herself vulnerable in front of millions of viewers? Do you make yourself vulnerable, or stay in the safety of judging others?

To fully understand what she means by such an unfathomable comment, a person would need to Deep Dive into The Work. There's a KZitem channel called Always In The Now which has hours and hours of audio of Katie doing The Work with individuals. Also, there are countless videos on KZitem where you can watch her doing The Work with people. A few celebrity's that do The Work are Alanis Morissette, Rae Dong Chong and Jenny McCarthy. McCarthy produced a video of Katie facilitating The Work with a few people.
