I made this exercise for the nine members of my Ukulele Riffs & More! course in Zoom. It focusses on the use of two techniques:
1. thumb to do a slow down strum (down stroke)
2. alternating and middle fingers to do the free stroke on repeated notes
Steps:
1. Practice very slowly to get the notes and fingers correct and then set a slow tempo to play the entire piece.
2. Practice the slow down strum (arpeggio) on the chord with your right hand (RH) thumb.
3. Practice alternating your RH index and middle fingers for repeated notes. Next time, change the order (e.g. on the REPEAT as I've shown here).
To do the two exercises (sections A and B are slightly different):
1. Set a metronome tempo. I used quarter note = 40 beats per minute (BPM) as written. You may want to set a slower tempo.
2. Perfect one exercise before attempting the second.
Questions:
1. Which exercise is easier A or B?
2. Which RH fingers come to you naturally?
3. What are the initial challenges?
