The C.O.P.S. opening in stereo and without anyone shouting COPS! (Note: the stereo part begins at 00:14.)
Shuki Levy's C.O.P.S. theme song was released in stereo on the fantastic album "30 Years of Funtastic TV Toons" in 1990. I decided to sync it to the intro sequence, but discovered a few oddities along the way. For one, the soundtrack theme didn't include the music heard in the first part of the intro (so clearly, it was not originally composed and recorded with that first part), and it also had an extended section near the end. Secondly, it played in a noticeably slower speed than the TV version! Not wanting to modify the stereo music, I reset the video framerate from 23.976 fps to 23.38 fps in order to match the tempo of the soundtrack theme. (This means the mono TV audio in the first 14 seconds has also been slowed down to 23.38 fps... but the stereo music is exactly as it was on the CD release.) Additionally, I cut and spliced the music near the end to recreate the TV edit. Hope you enjoy... and feel free to shout "COPS!" on top.
