What a gifted man this was. He converted and comforted so many who either became Christians or were floundering Christians. What brilliant arguments but they seem self evident after you hear them. What a blessing this man was - and continues to be.

I appreciate C.S. Lewis for his transparency. Anyone can relate to his personal suffering and experiences.

@ChristAddicts33 I don't think we can even vaguely imagine how wonderful it will be when we see Him, face-to-face. When we look at the heavens, which declare His glory and realize He's named all the stars... any thought of calculating their number is scandalized by yet new discoveries... just a small glimpse of His wonders, makes that which we are called upon to be, to do, to endure and to suffer for His sake, of miniscule consequence. To know Him... is Life indeed.

If those new discoveries are indeed truth. Considering the source. Reasonable doubt. Brought to us by the same source as other facts wildly regarded at a wholly incorrect.

As for his "universalism", regard his sober warning: "Hell begins with a grumbling mood...always blaming others... but you are still distinct from it. You may even criticize it in yourself...wish you could stop it. But there may come a day when you can no longer...there will be no you left..just the grumble itself, going on forever like a machine. It is not a question of God "sending us" to hell. In each of us there is something growing, which will BE hell unless it is nipped in the bud.”

1:05 - our own Nation used to teach a Classical education, not only in a Jeffersonian University, either. If you can get ahold of a set of McGuffey Readers*, you'll see what I mean. When someone sneers about Presidents & others having (only) an 8th grade education - read the final volumes. Be sure to look for the original teaching set. One can order them online. * /wiki/McGuffey_Readers

If you were that disspointed with C S Lewis, I'm not sure you'll love Chesterton - after all, Lewis was inspired by Chesterton's books when he decided to get back into the Christian faith...but perhaps Chesterton should not be judged by the individuals he inspired.Hope u enjoy his books

Lewis was born into the modernist milieu; the culmination of everything anticlerical in the 1800’s; Thomas Paine, Darwin, Huxley, Nietzsche, etc. Harry Emerson Fosdick & his like are much more culpable for the erosion of the Faith. Lewis called people back to the classical piety.

to represent. He was not a "semi heretic" of the atonement. He taught the Christus Victor view which has been along way long that the Penal Substitution innovation of John Calvin which came about in the 1500s. And he didn;t teach universalism. He clearly stated that he believed there are certain people who would eternally reject God. So why no do a little bit more research before you continue to make ignorant and non sensical comments about Lewis

Very few have done more to damage the cause of Christ The Lord and His Gospel as Lewis did. His "mere Christianity" dumbing down and misrepresenting of the Gospel is so much of the factor for the current state of confusion in Evangelicalism and its vulnerability to all kinds of errors and heresies... He was in semi heresy (about the atonement for example) or open heretic as his error of universalism and universal "salvation"... Thus a confused writer appears as "theologian" to confused masses.
