Thank you so much for this video, you're a life saver! Me and my grandfather are working on his old 71 and we have been trying to figure out why it leaks from the vents.

Happy to help. I’m just learning a day or two ahead of you! Good luck with your restoration. (It’s OK to use modern materials, BTW)

My 82 has the screens but I will blow the gunk out. Great tip.

If you can pop off the vent doors it is a bit easier to really get down in that cavity. I did mine a while back and was amazed at how much crap was down there. Good heads-up for everyone with a C3.

I looked at popping off the vent doors, but it wasn’t apparent how. Got a tip?

@@thedrivewayC3 They are spring loaded. Press the door upward to compress the spring and then you can pull the pin out of the bottom hole then tilt it toward the outside and the upper pin will drop out of the top hole.

@@kellywilliamson3643 Thanks - I knew it was simple, but you still need to know how!

Replace those screens people. Don't park under trees if possible and check it with every oil change.

Years ago when I would take the vette out and it rained, the water would drip into the drivers foot rest area. The day I go in the dash I hope there are no surprises. I think I might try the black sealant- some type of flex seal

Black flex seal is a great idea. That stuff works! I think I’ll pour some down the side from the wiper bay and let it find the gaps.

My car was supposedly garaged and it was completely packed solid. Luckily it was dry, but if I hadn't noticed it, it was going to be a bad situation real quick.

That’s why the birdcage rots in these areas.

Yeah - Important to keep clear!

I was thinking of a way to seal it off to a smaller drain tube opening for the water. If debris gathered it would stay in the wiper area and would be easier to see a problem and clean it. Not hidden down at the bottom.

I think that’s what the screens are for, but they don’t last and it seems like people don’t replace them. Might as well cone up with a new solution!

Is that a '71? Where is the "egg crate" gills?

The louver vents have been modified to resemble 73 and later

I suspect this would be the same for a c2?

I don’t know, but it’s something to consider. I think build-up of dirt in tight spaces is a universal issue with most classic cars.
