Mine says “C308 Sporter”. Took mine out yesterday. Added a scope and Hit steel at 600 yards.

Love my 2020 build with wood furniture. Build quality is on par with the PTRs I've handled. Threw a metal Cetme lower on it, milled the iron sights off, A3 collapsing stock, Aimpoint PRO, and it's a Cetme C with the Norwegian/Swedish homeguard modernizations. Perfectly relevant battle rifle in 2021!

For those who wish to replace the Navy style trigger housing with a steel one, the receiver is dimensionally a PTR/HK. The CETME trigger housing doesn't fit. Mine are the black synthetic ones and I replaced the forend with the UTG one. It's aluminum and has rails, which allow you to mount a light, vertical forend grip, or whatever you want. It also helps mitigate barrel heat. These are great rifles. I polished the bolt carrier at front contact points with jeweler's rouge and lube them with red high heat grease. They also take the X-Products 50 round drum.

Great Video Mine is a newer-ish Century/PTR Cetme C308 Sporter. Hand Gaurd is snug on mine. Did get a PTR Bird Cage Flash Hider so my bayonet fits alot better now. Only issue I've had was a magazine with a weak spring and sticky follower. Its accurate enough, I've taken over a dozen hogs and a couple white tails with it. I've had mine 2 years. Bought it second hand for $650 with bayonet. Been offered $1,200 but I love this rifle lol. I run an $80 knock off 4x32 ACOG. Use Cetme Mags, HK Mags, and A Polymer Mag I think is HK also. 1 cetme mag was junk. But it was like $6 lol. It eats Steel Tula, And Wolf, Brass Winchester White Box and some 1980s 7.62x51 NATO stuff I got dirt cheap. I will say after 500 rounds at the range in 4 hours, it was beyond filthy. You gotta clean this puppy completely and every time you take it out. I've done a hunting trip and shot less than 20 rounds in 2 days and it was filthy lol. Love this rifle, it's in my top 5 now. Great video btw, I mean that, the detail, and information was superb. This video is very long, I never fast fwd and watched the entire video. Held my attention the whole time. You do great work. Thanks for your time.

Make sure to keep the roller locking recesses in the receiver clean. If they stay dirty and caked, recoil can get stout.

Found one in a pawn shop for $600 in may this year. I shot it about 35 rounds i did not have any problems with it. This does say C308 sporter like the one you have

I have one of those early sporters. Metal lower, no cleaning kit or bayonet latch, wood furniture. It chewed up casings and the back of the bolt was ground down. Century's dangerous attempt to achieve the proper gap without having to replace rollers. I came across a full auto BCG with a like new bolt and it runs like a dream now.

@@BrowncoatNerd I bought mine "clipped and pinned" from Bill Springfield. I think he lists on gunbroker, but has his own site too. It was definitely worth the price to have it already done like that, so it was ready to go. I also bought a selector switch from him, since the external dimensions are different. The trigger pack fits right in, but the plastic lower is thicker and Century sends a slightly longer one as stock. His ph # is on his website, I called and discussed with him about exactly what I would need. Nice guy. I'd also bought a cheap ($10) birdcage hider from a local shop, after noting my Century brake was getting scuffed. My bayonet fits perfectly now.

Is your CETME mag kind of stiff to insert. A bit of resistance while entering the mag well?
@BrowncoatNerd
Жыл бұрын
They (steel CETME & aluminum HK) give a little resentence at first but that’s it. I feel like the mag well might have been tighter when I first got it but I’m not positive on that. It’s snug enough that an empty mag still won’t drop free. How stiff is yours and is it “broke in”?

Someone unexpectedly offered me a clean version of one of these for my AR. I’m torn because I’ve always wanted a roller delayed 308 battle rifle, but is it practical?
@BrowncoatNerd
3 жыл бұрын
I’d say the AR is definitely more practical than the C308. Also being a Century Arms build you’re always taking a gamble as to whether yours will run properly. It’s a fun gun to add to a collection but not necessarily a “go to” rifle. It’s also much heavier than the AR.
@scoobysnacker1999
2 жыл бұрын
@@BrowncoatNerd It's an old comment, but in my opinion it also depends on the AR. My C308 runs great on cheap steel-cased ammo, very few of the other military-style 7.62 NATO/308 cal guns do. I got mine for $599 and put some in to pretty it up, probably still under $800 for everything. Got some super-cheap mags, I think I paid under $3 apiece for them. You can still find them for $5. You're not going to find a rifle in 308 for that right now; but you can find a decent AR at that price.
