Hey Daniel, thank you for the tutorial, very concise! One question, how you make the flower to stop bloming when the petals are already opened? I dont want it to loop infinitly
@DanielDanielsson
7 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried this, but you might be able to do it by adding a Time Effector to the cloner and setting the time value to -1F. So for every frame the petals animate forward the time effector pushes it back one frame, effectively stopping them.
@ryantalbot_art

Hi Diogo, I came here to do the same thing. What I found is that you have to build the flower a little differently, not using the step effector at all. Once you get to the part of the tutorial where he says to add a step effector, duplicate the cloner object a few times instead. Then, for each cloner object decrease the scale a little and change the ending keyframes so the petals land at the right amount of bending without scaling back to zero, etc. Rotate each cloner object a little so the petals aren't perfectly overlapping, either. Hope that helps. P.S. Thanks for the awesome tutorial series Daniel! Been using these techniques to make vines grow around live action subjects for a music video and it's working great.

Someone asked this earlier, but no one responded. How to fix the petals from overlapping? I've checked my step effector a million times, even increasing the offset, also making sure the petal's axis was centered and at the bottom.
@tomoswillis9055
5 жыл бұрын
For those looking to just use the flower with out the animation, go to the frame you want the flower to look like. Then click on file and towards the bottom click on export, and export as .abc. A box will open, make sure you change the start and end frame to the frame you want. This will produce a file with the flower in but not the texture, just copy the texture and paste it onto the exported .abc flower

If you've got "Render Instances" checked on your cloner it might do that. Otherwise just make sure your Step Effector is included in the Effector-tab of the Cloner, and that you've got the time parameter active on the Effector. Best of luck!

@DanielDanielsson
7 жыл бұрын
It's all down to when the petals are where. You'll have to do some trial and error, but I would start by tweaking the Position Keyframes of the petals, both values and timing. Eventually you'll happen upon an animation where they all just lock into place.
@amandakkaiser

@@DanielDanielsson I'm dealing with the same problem, I think it might be because I can't get my petal to swivel around a fixed anchor point at the base - how did you lock it there so the petal swivels just around just the point instead of the whole petal moving up and around itself? thanks!

If you make lots of copies of the petal in the cloner you can add different textures to each one. Bit tricky if you want the pattern to line up in a specific way though.

This is a long shot, but make sure the Plane is a child of the Subdivision Surface (instead of the other way around). If that's not the thing, try putting the plane in a Connect object, then that Connect object in a Subdivision Surface. Connect objects tend to fix weird things caused by deformers and the likes.
