Got one these recently. The insulated version. A stunning piece of kit. Lets you wear less under the jacket subject to conditions

You missed the most important feature - the reason to buy it - it's breathable. Waterproof jackets make you sweat, doesn't matter if it's waterproof you'll get wet due to sweat. Shakedry several manufacturers make similar jackets, allows the sweat vapour to pass through the material - whilst keeping the rain/water out - so you remain dry. This is its biggest and vastly better feature to everything else on the market, it's why they all are expensive in comparison to other non shakedry jackets 👍

Hey, thanks for pointing this out. 100% agree! This is being called out in the full review here bikedriven.com/clothing/c5-gore-tex-shakedry-viz-jacket-review/ "The fabric, which features GORE® SHAKEDRY™ technology, doesn’t let any water or wind pass through. At the same time, this jacket is breathable, so the sweat and heat can escape when you are pushing hard."

I recently purchased a shake dry jacket made by Sitka. I haven't tested mine out yet. I will be using it for 3 season backpacking. Its great to hear that it breaths. Im a bit worried having a jacket with no pit zips for hot weather. fingers crossed it works out!

@@woodyshepherd6904 this is not a material that can be used with a backpack. You'll ruin it, It'll leak & you'll be unhappy.

Great review, just picked one up today. I have a paclite for commuting but it is pretty old and does not stow like this jacket, so different uses I suppose. Really just wanted that extra layer for just in case and Spring rainy weather. Oh and which Garmin watch is that? Dig the band.

Thanks, Jason! Happy you found the review helpful! The watch is Garmin Forerunner 935. Probably a bit outdated version, as I have had it for a few years now.

What temperature range would this jacket be suitable for?
@bikedriven
2 жыл бұрын
Good question! The jacket itself is very thin and the temperature range depends on what you wear underneath. For example, a summer short-sleeve jersey and the jacket on top should be okay on most spring & fall days. In winter it is better to put a long-sleeve jersey on. If the jersey is very warm then you can go into freezing temperatures with the jacket on top. Hi David, I tried packing the jacket into its back pocket. It requires a lot of effort and you really need to jam the fabric to a "dangerous" level . I did not even managed to do it since the pocket is so small. Not sure now if it is actually meant for that purposes. Will continue packing the jacket into jersey's pocket as before. Hope it helps!

Do you overheat?
@bikedriven
Жыл бұрын
Hey, yes! It depends on the clothing I am wearing and the temperature outside. If it gets too warm, I fully unzip the jacket to cool down or completely take it off, fold and shove it in my jersey's back pocket. Hope this helps.
