First, check the radiator cap. Second, check the radiator. Third, install sports thermostats. Fourth, check the water pump and the fans. Inevitably the problem is one of these. For better results, buy additional fans.

Thinking I might need to update the title to reference the date of this video. Before the video I had a brand new Radiator installed by the dealer, which is why the video was made. After the video, I sent my car to "Cordes Performance Racing (CPR)" in Tempe AZ to have a CAM, performance oil pump, thermostat, harmonic balancer, and performance radiator fan system installed. They did tune the car and as I suspected, the prior owner did mess with the tuning and had it way off. Since then, I have not seen the car go to the levels from what this video shows. I still get around 25 to 30 PSI of oil pressure when at idle which seems low to me, but once revved, it's back to normal. The new tune did change my Idle, and now the fans react to temperature. Before, the tune should be keeping the engine at 210F, but the new tune is set to 220F which seems to remain stable there.. thank you for the advice and for anyone else that see this video, I recommend your troubleshooting process

Wow the wet sump cars run warm! The highest coolant temp on the street my ZR1 will do is 219, and that’s from standing still. As soon as I move it plummets. Oil pressure will be around 21-24 there and rise when coolant and oil go dump in temp, dry sump and all. Battery voltage 13.7 or higher.

Ambient temperature is 128'F? Well, there's your problem right there. Where are you, Death Valley? The surface of the sun? Hell? You see that red line on the temperature gauge? That's your worry-line. Worry when it gets there. Until it does, you're okay. If you needed to worry at 235'F, they'd have put the red worry-line at 235'F.

It looks like your running hot is causing a lot of other problems, your oil pressure is too low at idle, your idle is definitely too low as is your battery charging rate. I am a 2013 Corvette owner.

Nice observations! Had to re-watch the video to see what you were seeing about the battery. I do not typically have, or see that, but if the engine bay is really hot, I would expect that. Same with the oil pressure, which my car is around most of the time. When I'm moving the pressure is at 40psi, but idle I'm like this on the oil pressure. Also, my idle is typically at 500RPM.. that is to low? also, this is an 06 with the LS2, not the LS3 you have (you lucky).
@bassb450

I'm thinking even with the LS-2 you should be in the 625-650 rpm range. However I was just on the Corvette forum(I am a member) and some guys are saying 500-600 on their cars. The majority is around 600 LS-2 or LS-3

Yes your right, higher RPM or I believe in your case the correct RPM would cure your oil pressure and alternator output to normal. I honestly can't see 500 RPM at idle being normal or good for your car as it shows the effects in your other readings.

Your c6 does not have the oil cooler on the front like the manual is ones or the z51 which has a smaller oil cooler to the front or all the z06 that have the longer oil cooler to the front and later switched to a coolant oil cooler by the filter. I have an 05 that had same issue with the oil pressure your oil temp is at 240 which drops pressure to 18. My oil would go to 20psi around 235F and always heated fast when I would drive on the freeway. Add the oil cooler from the z06 asap or even the smaller one and your oil pressure at idle will be like mine at 26-30 at idle and never go pass 200F. Now regarding the coolant temp sim having same issue you’re having. The reason you see the voltage drop is because your fan is running at full speed which draws quiet a bit of power from The alternator

Even after taking it to Cordea and having the performance radiator shroud and fans installed, it will had a problem when idleing (waiting at lights). Though once I start moving, it would immediately drop to 200, till the next light. The dealer told me the missing front damper (the black rubber and plastic pieces we always scrape under the cat) is needed to help this. Their reasoning is the heat from the engine bay goes into the front of the radiator and the damper stops that. Don't know if I completely buy that. However, I did purchase new front damper set and will be installing them the next couple weeks while I have the car up on my QuickJack. I haven't been driving the car for the last couple months as it needed new tires and an oil change, which I have not had the time to deal with. Just for new tread on a set of TSWs I got from an ACE member. Also have the wiring update for the Morimoto headlights and the Morimoto fog lights. So, I'll be working on the front the car for the next couple week. Heat is bad here right now, so taking it easy.

You live in AZ, or like, there you break triple digit temps? For me, I solved the bulk of it, changing the coolant and upgrading to performance radiator fans. It's not perfect, but it helped. Think "Q8 Boy" has it nailed. My radiator was new, from the dealer, when the issue first started (I first noticed it). I changed the coolant to a better quality and upgraded the fans. I have not replaced the thermostat or water pump. I didn't replace the thermostat as normal driving is not an issue, it's sitting idle after getting off a freeway or just constant idle. at that point, both thermostats would be wide open (unless mine is stuck, which might be the case). forgot about the water pump.. oops...

car doesn't have one anymore as it has a performance radiator fan/shroud on it at that time. UPDATE: This video is 3 years old. I've gotten all the parts to get front air dam back on the car. Surprisingly, looks like the dealership was correct, back in 2016. The car does better at maintaining it's temp with those 3 plastic/rubber pieces on the car. When I purchased the car the air dam was gone due to the car being lowered to far. Since then I been raising the car up, and not a new air dam is back on. seems to even make a difference when the car is idle, guessing, not pulling air only from the front of the car, instead of the front and the lower engine bay.

not sure it is completely fixed.. new radiator fans, new radiator, new performance oil pump and I still see some overheating when it's over 110 here, this is only when at a stop on idle. one thing that needs to be added back to the car is the front air dam.

In the January of 2019 I took to car to Cordes Performance Racing in Tempe AZ to have some things done. 1. CAM/Valve Springs/Lifters 2. Performance Radiator Fans 3. upgraded Harmonic Balancer 4. Oil Pump 5. Tune Bass man was correct that the idle was low, and was causing other issues with the car. the prior owner had a really bad tune on the car which is likely part of the issue. The only thing that stayed about the same was the oil pressure but was told that is not a surprise. I also have a vented hood now which helps to get the heat out of the engine bay. I get to 220F and that's it. lot of money and time for that..

Didn't know this video got up here. When it get over 110F the car has a hard time keeping cool. The Radiator is new, fan is working, has the oil-cooler, but will get up to 240F coolant temp and the oil get hot as well. The main issue is the car has headers (purchased car used with them) and the header do cause additional heat in the engine bay. Thought about wrapping the headers, but will likely crack them if I do. So, looking at a vented hood to get the heat our of the engine bay. do not have the heating issue in motion.. only when I'm sitting.
