The torque specs are actually 4 Nm or 35 inch lbs. Get the correct torque wrench and tighten to 35 inch lbs on all 12 bolts and then go back and using the same sequence you mentioned (from the middle) you will turn an additional 1/4 of a turn.

I usually do it like that on other cars I've had but if you've had any fluid loss over the years it would be inaccurate.
@edwardthayer9386

@cmidas3396 not being rude but common sense would show whether thier was fluid loss or not. Everything looked dry during your video but I didn't realize your transmission was leaking.
@cmidas3396

@edwardthayer9386 Mine wasn't leaking. What I'm saying is if you just drain and refill with what came out there is a possibility of underfilling it if any transmission fluid has been lost and there are several places where fluid could be lost, not just at the transmission. I've done like you have on a different cars and have been fine and orher times the trans had problems later down the line but I can't exactly attribute it to underfilling so I'm not disagreeing with you just saying it's a possibility.

So right after reinstalling the transmission fluid pan, car took almost 3 quarts oil, then you started the engine to bring to required temperature. Please tell me how many more quarts atbthat point the car took? How many total bottles or quarts, transmission took before it started spilling out?

Can you flush the transmission oil without removing the brace or any brackets? In case i don't want to replace the filter, just flush the oil.
@cmidas3396

I can't remember if you'd have access to the drain and fill ports with the brace installed. You'll have to get under there and check.

I did this recently, and yes you can drain and fill without removing the braces or bracket. How much fluid total did you used? I did about 5.25 liters

You can do more refills after this without removing the others brackets, there is access to the fill and drain plug , just need more money since fluid is not cheap...

I'm gonna go ahead and drop the pan & filter when I do it again so I can check tbe pan magnets and clean the pan. There's actually still some old fluid in the trans since it doesn't all come out when it's changed.

@cmidas3396 good idea. I'll probably do it again too , to get more fluid out. Fcp euro has the LM top tech 1800 fluid for $8 a liter. My magnets had a lot of metal particles, mine A6 has 119k miles.

@@luiszubillaga1463 Yeah the old fluid has a lot of metal in it when not changed. That's why I put the extra magnets from the old filter on the new one.

@@cmidas3396 thanks man. just did the change yesterday following your funnel/tube method.. About 5 liters flowed out when i drained it but I was only able to get about 3.5-4L of fluid in before it dripped out. is that OK? Appreciate your help and video - it was very helpful!

Did you have the car running while you poured it in? I forget how many bottles I got in. It helps to let it run a few seconds before pouring the next bottle in so the level evens out.

@@cmidas3396 i ran the car to bring the temperature up to 37 degrees C, then turned it off and refilled until it dripped out. I used 4L but about 300ML leaked out from the overflow. However, when I drove home the transmission felt fine, no issues whatsoever. Just wondering if I should top this off though just to be safe or if I should just leave it as is.
