Great tool Glen. I have had some bad experiences when it comes to lug nuts and tire shops on my daily drivers. I never knew the rotors would shatter like that.

Ozzstar I would love to put some ZO6 wheels on my Z51 Stingray however, I believe they will stick out in the rear, nor sure about the front. I was a novis when I purchased my Vette. I didn’t really do a lot of research when I bought my car. I can’t wait to see my family more than anything. I’ve been deployed for the past 6 months in Iraq. Not even sure how it will feel driving to work again. Kind of nervous about that first drive on the DC beltway!
@ozzstars_cars
5 жыл бұрын
Yes the Grand Sport and Z06 which both have the Z51 package do have wider rear quarter panels. There are however lots of different wheel combos you could go with for a new look. You are right about the DC Beltway is always crazy!! haha It will be better than Iraq though, thanks for your service man and have a Happy Thanksgiving! -Glen

Thanks for showing us these. I've imagined something like this and didn't know they exist. I ordered one for a Jeep. Not worried about the rotors, but the wheel/tire are heavy and I'm pretty close to old. Hope they work. ordered the 1/2-20 threads, marketed by them for Mustang.

I can't believe I'm the first one here and I'm never first at anything LOL. Nice looking beard Glen and you caught me by surprise :) I can see where those rods would come in very handy. I can imagine a guy who's got a bad hangover the next day and he's going to pull that 63 lb tire off without those rods. Mmmm, sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Great video Glen and glad you had fun in Nevada!

Good video, Glen. I made the mistake of thinking I only needed 1 of the extensions. It helped, but i just ordered a second one so it would add some stability. I think 3 is overkill, and I'll let you know how I make out with the 2.
@ozzstars_cars
5 жыл бұрын
I spoke with the head engineer of this tool. Three are used to make it more 'balanced' and properly support the weight safely without any chance of bending or breaking on the wheel stud. It only take about 10 seconds to install that third extension. Let me know how it goes. Take care

When I started messing with putting Wilwood Big Brakes on my 06 supercharged Mini Cooper S I had to use about 1/4 inch spacers to get clearance. So the bolts were short with the spacers. I had factory wheels in 17 inch and aftermarket wheels in 16 inch with bigger tires(wider, not taller). Then the wheel bolts which I always hated were shorter in the backing plate so I put wheel studs all around. Before this, I had the things you are talking about and it helped. I just could never get used to doing the wheels with the bolts. My mechanic never liked the wheel bolts either, even with the screw in things because it was just another step. He would always complain about them and, of course, me, hanging over his shoulder telling him everything I read about the car since Jesus was in short pants.
@ozzstars_cars

lol @short pants. The extensions do take a minute to i stall but it's worth taking the time to make sure those expensive rotors don't get damaged.

@@ozzstars_cars Big difference in the rotors you are talking about vs iron. 2 ceramic rotors cost more than the whole Wilwood deal all around. Anyway, nice beard! Hope it doesn't irritate anyone.

It's no shave November around here. So far so good with the beard, thanks. Yeah the steel rotors are about $400 each and the ceramics are $1500 each, that's no pocket change for most of us right?
