This song took me back, growing up on the Rez, my late parents back yard was the North Western Ontario forest, the east river that took you all the way to the Hudson Bay, hearing stories of amazing hunting trips and living life on the land, listening to my late grandmother humming an old song meant to calm tired babies. It’s amazing where a song can take you, thank you very much.

Another great artist out of Virginia is Tyler Childers. If you’re not familiar, check out “Nose to the Grindstone” “Hard Times” “All Your’n”. There are plenty of great songs, but those are some of his best imo. Live versions are the best versions too. Cheers!

Banjolicious. Also: This song is so catchy and easy to sing along with that I often have it as an ear worm all day long. Taylor Meier's sandpaper and dry leaves "old soul" vocals add extra depth. It's a standout tune among many wonderful ones on my favorite Caamp album.

So many feelings. Riding in the back seat of my parent's station wagon driving the Appalachian highways from our home in Western Pennsylvania to our Aunt's home in West Virginia. I was a skinny kid with a chip on my shoulder. I would look at the passing scenery; a mix of beautiful woods and mountains; blighted by strip mines, open pits, and logging operations just raping the land in the most brutal fashion. I've since moved to the big city, got a liberal arts degree, and settled into adult life. And I have to ask myself, "Am I a life force?" Can I hold this grudge against the power companies, the mining companies, and the logging companies if I don't do anything about it myself?

Wow! See this is why the arts matter, a song evokes this reflection!!! What have I heard lately (in Western Canada, BC) that activism can take many forms, wheee change is in the hands of the next generation coming from a place of love and passion. Find your people, gather and dig in to arts for social change! I saw this politician the other day in Whistler and he told us of the work he had been doing… I will find the clip and add it here lately
