That was fun! The on-train point of view adds a new dimension. Your work on the electronics and track is paying off handsomely. Thanks for sharing the experience.

Thank you Justin! Yeah it feels like I'm getting towards the end of the intense technical stuff, although I did solder together 10 double block detectors this week. I'll get there! Thanks again, Chris

Very nice to see, Chris - you must be very proud of what you have achieved. Haven't commented in a while, and haven't done much on my layout for several months now. I lost my Dad at the back end of last year, and the railway modeling was always something we'd do together. Starting to do some bits now, but more on the electronics side at the moment. Keep up the great work, Chris. I always look forward to seeing your latest video and what you've been up to. Take care. Jason.

Thanks for the message Jason and sorry about your Dad. It must be hard to go back to it on your own after it being so collaborative. Best wishes, Chris

Hi Chris, enjoyed that. Spotted with interest your solenoid mounts. Where did you find them?

Hi Howard! They're for the servos - they're from MERG, the Model Electronic Railway Group. There's an annual membership fee but the amount of useful stuff and knowledge you get access to makes it very well worth it. Regards, Chris merg.org.uk/

@@WirenwoodModelRailway thanks Chris, I’m not sure if this is they, I’ve seen a design that the servo moves another actuator that is moving the point bar. Hence the servo idiosyncrasies does not cause it to pull out of the point bar.

Yes - that's the one! I covered them in detail here kzitem.info/news/bejne/w6aN2mqmcoJ3o6w They're not perfect though - although the servo arm does sit inside the cradle, if I get severe spikes, the servo arm can pop out of the cradle. The cradle then jams between the servo arm and microswitch (if using) and burn the motor out, as it's trying to get to a position it can't get to as it's blocked by the now loose cradle arm. Without microswitches it's not a big deal though, just switch the power to the servo off and the arm can be 'swung' back into the cradle without the need to remove or replace the mount itself. Regards, Chris
