It’s actually a very well written and comprehensive book kzitem.infoUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 . I wanted to pair this with an updated book on local codes to start planning a post-retirement dream shop. I think I have just about everything I need between the two. The extra plans available for purchase towards the end are priced almost as much as full home plans, not little sheds however.

For my house i would redo the roof like you did here. I would remove drywall to expose attic trusses abd beams then extend walls to roof line. Next I would redo electrical and hvac ducts, sheetrock walls and put corrugated metal on the deck between rafters. I would paint my exposed attic ceiling black for an industrial look.

Wish I saw this last month! My husband and I are doing a flip in rural AK too and we just put a new roof on with standard rafters and gap for wool insulation. We have the glu lam beams too, it's a vaulted ceiling, and I want the wood ceiling look! Now how to go about this, over the drywall? Or no drywall and just tongue and groove boards between? I thought drywall was needed to meet code for a fire barrier, probably wouldn't need it with a tin roof but we put on asphalt shingles. Love your vids by the way, we do lots of your furniture plans and your builds are great inspiration!

This roof is beautiful. It's a little different in that the rafter pairs are just fastened to the exterior walls, and not tied together by a horizontal member, like where the ceiling joists would typically be. Is this something you guys had designed this way?

I am trying to build a similar roof this summer, love the look! The 2x6 tongue and groove, do you leave a gap where they butt together for expansion or no? My structural engineer specified end match T&G which means it has T&G on the butt ends as well. Would love to hear what you all do for this!

Lol I don't believe end match t and g is necessary! We run a millshop and have never end matched v groove heck I've only seen the stuff once! We don't end match flooring either because the longer lengths we get our stock in vs those little short pieces you get from Lumber Liquidators Etc

Sorry to bug you mid-series ... and for going “off topic” - but I’m looking for a specific plan from Hamill Creek Timber Homes and I’ve literally searched with Quotes (meaning “Hamill” HAS (or is supposed to be!) in the search results. Yet after doing this several dozen times now, I keep getting dozens of your amazing videos instead in the #1 position!? So I’m confused as I’m watching this video (y’all even went as far as getting your own timbers and cutting them yourselves!!!!) so clearly you’re not using Hamill Creek (are you?) I’ve obviously not watched all 30+ videos of your beautiful build in Alaska - but am curious why your videos are coming up in my search results? Appreciate any feedback or guidance in case you did use Hamill at some point in time maybe that I missed! (Also curious how you (as a female) handle living in such a gorgeous area but living off the grid and not having city “creature features” that I’d think most women (ladies) would kinda miss having access to??) - not to mention friends and family nearby? I’ve just subscribed and will start back on video 1 later, as I’m building our last “forever home” here in the Colorado Rockies (8,720’ft!) and whilst it’s cold here. It’s never -50*F cold! (Heard that in another T&G SIP panel roof video!) Brrr! 🥶! Good luck. Hope things turn out (or if finished now, turned out great!) (the quality is truly impressive for you guys turning your own lumber and finishes from raw wood! 👍🏻 Cheers BB
