Yeah videos pretty accurate since it's commonly the layout shown, but not always the case. Refer to your manual always especially to see what DIMM slots to use for your RAM if unsure. Front panel connectors on full ATX boards I always do the bottom row first then the top row. Seems almost impossible to try and wedge the bottom row between the top once its connected, and the case.

One thing you missed in this video that's super important with new boards: The internal USB C connector IS NOT REVERSIBLE. The external C connector is, and the internal one looks like it probably is too with no apparent key/hole to line up, but it is not, and if you happen to plug it in wrong you will likely get it stuck or push down thinking you need to do it firmly and break the connector and potentially short the entire motherboard. This happened to XQC and it broke his $800 top of the line motherboard... So look at it very carefully before you even attempt to plug it, and don't put pressure on it unless you're already 100% sure it's in the correct way.

It’s just so time consuming to me because every mobo usually have diff layouts and being a new pc builder you still have to try to remember what things mean and where they plug or go into. It’s the one that can easily confuse me the most but hopefully as time go by I get better and with cable management as well (i suck at that so bad)

Putting the components together and attaching them to the case takes like 20 min. Figuring out where all the wires go can take hours for a newbie. I decided to build my first PC at 45 years old. The hardest part was seeing the little front panel plugs and getting them on those tiny little pins. After that my case has a RGB lighting node but the fan plugs for my AIO CPU cooler are different. I gave up trying to figure that out and literally use 2 apps to control the different lights on my MB, and fans. So much for the Corsair RGB node making it easy. 🤣

I was scared about the cable management and even considered wasting 200+€ for someone to build my pc, then last month I decided to just do it and it was much easier than I thought. What I can say is: read the manual of your motherboard it tells you everything you need to know; don’t let cables accumulate, connect them as soon as the component they are connected to is secured to the case; put the psu with all the cables necessary already connected to it and bring them where they are needed before installing the gpu

What helps a lot is the first time you get a PC you go for a prebuilt one and later on in 5 years you can upgrade on your own. That helped me a lot seeing how everything is connected already! So basically depending on the hardware upgrading was just replacing everything that was prebuilt. Just make sure your Case is at least a mid-tower. Had no experience at all absolute 0 idea and I replaced: Mainboard, CPU, Power, RAM, GPU, AIO Fan, SSD All on my own without help. System runs smooth as butter

Some fun stuff to know from a (not really) grisled veteran: Always check your manual especially for the power switch cables. I upgraded from a Z390 board to a Z690 board of the same brand and I’m fairly certain the power cables were in a different order although I could’ve just gotten it mixed up in the 10 or so minutes between plugging the new set in and the old set into their new home. Additionally, the lights are not necessary for operation. If you don’t want the power and HDD leds flashing when it’s asleep, just leave them unplugged and no harm will come of it. One EPS 8 pin (CPU power) can provide more than 300W. To put this in perspective, the highest wattage a normal consumer stock CPU will take is the 13900k at 255W. It can be overclocked higher but only a tiny percentage of people have any use for the second EPS connector wether it’s an additional 4 pin or an additional 8 pin. Fan cables suck especially if you want RGB. Most of the time, I find that the cables are long enough to have annoying slack but not long enough that you can effectively manage them. Any pre-purchase measures you can take to reduce fan cable clutter will be a boon when you actually try to manage them. On a similar note, even high quality NVMe drives are becoming shockingly affordable. Take advantage of that. Unless you need loads of storage, at which point you’ll probably be using an HDD array, NVMe or even SATA M.2 drives are a wonderful blessing. SATA cables, while built for convenience with large arrays, are decidedly inconvenient when you only have one or two drives. . If you have some extra money, custom cables are worth more than good looks. You can get them at custom lengths so you can avoid tucking excess length into the PSU shroud. Lastly, cable management is great and all but if you overdo it, you’ll be giving your future self a headache. It’s a real pain to cut zipties and undo cable ties just to replace one fan. Consider using twist ties instead of zipties and try not to lump every single cable together in one place. It might look nice and it’s good for things that you won’t be taking apart again but again, it really sucks to undo all of your cable management for a single fan.
