Wow…the light wind performance was very impressive!

Nice comparison! I have a question concerning light wind range of the 1200. I currently have the 1000 but would like to get an efficient foil to capture lighter winds (lower teens). Do you think the 1200 will make that much more of a difference? It’s a bit bigger, but the AR is a bit lower too. I’m worried the size-gained benefits might be lost with higher drag/lower AR. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I have gotten much better with the H Series foils since I posted this one. I ride the H800 almost exclusively now with the rare occasion that I ride the H1000 to reduce drop on jumps. I ride the H800 down to the minimum wind threshold. I would guess that is about 7 or 8 mph gust. I upsize the wing I am using rather than the foil. It is a bit more difficult for me, at 187 lbs, to pump up in light wind, but, like you said, there is less drag and more speed with the same glide on the smaller foils. The H1200 is easier to get on foil, but I find the H800 is easier to keep it there. Same goes when comparing the 1200 to the 1000. Bigger is easier at first, but harder to keep going and with less carried speed.

Man that’s a great response and I really appreciate the info. I’m a lake winger so we don’t get any added power from waves (just a little lake swell), so I’m trying to figure out a quiver with the H series. I know the new line is coming out next month, but the prices on last year’s are getting nice! I guess my mind is blown now with your throwing the 800 into the conversation…haha!

What is the biggest front foil in your quiver right now?
