Brilliant, thanks for sharing. Not come across anyone catching Herring on my coast despite our heritage. Maybe people don't target them from the shore?

@@shamrockfishing6693 Might be worth me giving it a go here in the North East Scotland - might have more luck than catching Cod 🤣🤣

I'd trade them all for a few decent cod, planning a few trips this winter for some cod fishing

Dunlaoghaire Pier, go straight to the end of the east wall side when the tide is starting to come in, fish it till high tide, there's usually 10 + people there hauling herring. Most using small, silver makrel feathers.
I believe there's a policy with Irish fishermen/vloggers that they never tell you anything about marks, places, beaches just incase you might catch the last fish in the sea. UK fishermen seem to think there is more than two fish left so share the info readily. Very Stange behaviour in Ireland. Same on Facebook but you're right, it looks like Dún Laoghaire.

How long do they hang about?

Depends on the fishing and the weather I could spend 4 or 5 hours there or could be an hour or two
