Another awesome video, Lyn 😊 Always plant jobs that need doing. I've been busy this week watering, takes so long when you have so many plants lol. Glad the alcohol/soap solution is working well for you. Sone plants I have sprayed it on have suffered a bit of chemical burn, though. Some Echinopsis and Gymnos of mine have broke out in a few black blisters after spraying them, so just a heads up on that. Thank you for sharing with us as always, Lyn. Have a wonderful evening and weekend from Edith & myself to you & Hans ❤️🌵☀️🌺🌼🌸🏜

So happy you loved the plant jobs video Daz :-D and thanks so much for letting me know about the chemical burn with the soap and alcohol, I will be careful and keep an eye on it, haha yes it takes so long watering with all our plants, it takes me 4-5 hours of an evening now and better than a workout at the Gym haha, thanks so much Daz for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Edith lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to England and Singapore for a wonderful new week XXXX

Great video Lyn! I love looking at your cacti collection. Very good tips, too. Unfortunately here, it is too hot right now to go outside. I have plant chores piling up and I’m making a mental list to do them in Fall. Haha. Sometimes I bring my soil bags indoors and repot in my kitchen. 😅

So happy you loved the video Ana :-D I can imagine how hot it must be in Vegas now, even in Ireland it gets so hot in the polytunnel when its sunny and I can only be in there for a minute without running out again haha, and Fall can be a much better time to get plant jobs done when the cacti start to slow down a bit more, thanks so much for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and CAFFEINE and PLANT POWER to Las Vegas from Hans and me for a wonderful new week XXXX

Hi Lyn! Great tips on eradicating spider mites and mealy bugs😌🙏💖I've used rubbing alcohol and sprayed it on my Rebutia last year and it got rid of them👍I also use hydrogen peroxide too.

Love your videos Lyn, would you recommend spraying with neem oil every month as a preventative? I've been very very very lucky I don't want to tempt fate. And how to prevent sun burn on mammillaria species, I have one and I put my cacti on my south facing deck and it gets sunburn every year, and it never does flower.
@desertplantsofavalon

So happy you love my videos, yes Neem oil every 4-6 weeks is a brilliant way to prevent pests, its best to use the Neem oil in the evenings once the sun has gone down, some Mammillarias can be more sensitive to too much direct sun especially if they are moved from indoors to outdoors for summer, I would move your Mammillaria to a position where it gets either a few hours of early morning or late afternoon sun and avoid the midday sun between 11-3pm when the sun is strongest, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful new week XXXX

A really fantastic video, Lyn, so many excellent tips and infos, I really enjoyed watching this! Indeed, these months are extremely busy months around our plants and collections, every day brings new tasks ...and also new surprises, haha - and while of course I prefer the nice, like "who is in bloom today?" type of surprises, haha! But, as you also really nicely show in your video, it is also the occasional, less pleasant surprises like the "omg, is that really another mealy bug nest behind that pot?!!" type of surprises that can keep us really busy at this time of the year! Thanks so much for sharing, a really wonderful video!!! Wishing you and Hans a relaxing Tuesday evening and wonderful rest of the week. Lot's of cactus greetings over to you on the lovely Emerald Isle!

So happy you loved the Cactus jobs to do in summer video Joe :-D and so true with every day brings new tasks, I go into the polytunnel every morning and get so excited when I see signs of new buds forming, but then my heart sinks when I see yet another mealy bug nest haha, the Opuntias seem to be mealy bug magnets daily haha, but I spotted a bud on one of my Opuntias today and I can see the petals at the top, so happy as I thought it was just another pad growing, thanks so much Joe for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from the Emerald Isle to Bavaria for a fantastic Friday today XXXX

still amazes me how many you have in bud / flower, they doing great. only really one job is remove old flower heads of my Mammillaria matudae, did see one case sidermite on one well i think it was but that soon got sorted and not seen any since so all good. two i mentioned Rebutia fiebrigii Muscula, PARODIA MUTABILIS hook-spined both them finished flowering and signs of i might get some seeds so thats great, ECHINOCEREUS SUBINERMIS is still showing signs of buds they growing daily so hopefully not to long now till flowers as that one got two big buds and two others forming so that be a good show by looks of it, and Gymnocalycium anisitsii or Gymnocalycium baldianum Dwarf Chin Cactus unsure which is showing signs of something so keeping special eye on that one but looking at images it looks a lot like dwarf chin cacti but is other images with the other name what look alike so this year so far had more than normal flower and one showing signs something and one producing buds. its good to see so many in flower

Thats fantastic your Rebutia and Parodia may be producing seeds, and your Echinocereus subinermis is growing big buds, and thats fantastic news you have more than normal flower for you, I love this time of year so much, the weather has been really grey here the past couple of weeks and with very little sun but thankfully the cacti are still managing to bud and bloom, thanks so much Steve for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comments and support and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Kenilworth for a fantastic Friday and upcoming weekend XXXX

Thanks Lyn for a very informative video. I've been away from my main collection for 10 days and the jobs are building up, a few mealy bugs have appeared and also some of my plants are showing a bit of etiolation as it's been warm but not really very sunny, so plants indoors furthest from the window have suffered. I'm attempting to mitigate this by swapping them around a bit but I know this is really just spreading the problem across more plants! Happy cactusing to you and Hans from back in a warm, humid Northern Spain. 🙂🌵💚

I just spent 2 days cleaning the sun room, moving, checking, repotting, staking, pruning, fertilizing, and admiring! I did leave the resident spider and his web loaded with tiny pests between the moulding and the ceiling. I didn't see him but I did see his exoskeleton hanging in his web. He's doing his job so I leave him alone.
