My best female friend is from Mexico, my husband from Peru. My husband can not handle the spicy level of food that I have enjoyed for many years. My friend Lupe makes this dish almost the very same. She has taught me many dishes. One of the things I like to do is char Jalapeños until their almost black, with a little green left on them. Then slice them and add them with the cactus. It's very very amazing!!!

I live in Arizona and see those cactus growing everywhere but I don't want to deal with the thorns. Food 4 Less sells the whole "paddles" already cleaned, as well as precut strips. Thanks for showing an easy recipe on how to use them. I love the pickled ones in the jar. They remind me of pickled green beans. So tasty!

Hi Alma! Was hoping you can do a video showing how you pick your tomatoes, avocados and produce. Every time I chop tomato’s they are super wet and soggy and yours looks great! Also what rice do you recommend? Yours always looks so fluffy. Thank you 😊

From this video I learned I need to move to a climate where I can grow my own cactus. I can only imagine what fresh tastes like compared to store bought or, I’m embarrassed to say, canned.

@@almasrecipes1096 about 90 miles north of Chicago. There are some very fine Hispanic markets with fresh cactus. I can ask some friends to help me pick the best at the store.
