My family stayed at Cades Cove in the early '60s while I was a young teen. We visited a farm that was still occupied by the children of the original family. They were in the late 80's but loved to tell visitors of what it was like growing up there in the 1800's. I loved camping there. Thanks for the memories.

I grew up near there so some of my favorite childhood memories include exploring the cove. Yes, we too have spoken to the residents. The farm and beehives were there only a couple of decades ago. Thanks so much for watching. ~ Trisha

That is the area of my roots, my earliest memories, and (on a darker note) where I hope to have my ashes scattered some day. Thanks for watching! Trisha

Thank you so much!. Spain here, we are looking yo car-camp there in january. Any advise? Video i should look of your Channel? We've never been camping in USA before

Lots of campgrounds in the USA. Where you go depends on what you need. Be aware that our electrical outlets are different. Car rental is a must because we don't have mass transit to camping areas like Europe. I would need more info about what type of travel you are planning to give you better information.

Do campgrounds have access to waterfalls? if not what smoky mountain camps do?
@wanderwonders1221

You can access many waterfalls (like Abrams Falls) from the Cades Cove loop. However, you will probably want to drive or ride a bike to the trailheads from the campground. There are lovely smaller falls along the streams bordering both campgrounds. Driving through the park, you will see several trailheads for waterfalls. Have fun! ~ Trisha

If you were going to rent a group camp site and get married would you chose cades cove or elkmont? Love and appreciate the video thank you!

Well, Elkmont has that house that you can rent right on the water. It's very pretty. I'm not sure if you can use one of the chapels in Cades Cove or not for a small gathering, but it would be nice. I guess it depends on what type of wedding you want. Both have so many pretty outdoor settings. I'm very familiar with the Cades Cove group sites but not Elkmont's. Trisha

My wife and I will be camping in Elkmont in October. I would like to tell her about the bike renting. Do you know how much it was to rent bikes out?

Elkmont has such lovely sites by the river. You can rent bikes in the Cades Cove Campground and ride the loop. We've always taken our own bikes so I don't know the cost but it may be on their website. I think they even rent electric bikes now. Have a great time! Thanks for watching and commenting. Trisha

Been up there a lot, I'd recommend people take a gun. I had a black bear charge me while I was fishing. Luckily bear spray detoured it that time. But I had to shoot on while working on my buddies farm not far from the smokies.

Is there a park on the Cherokee side of the mountain ?

Several. Smokemont is in the National Park then there are several RV parks. If you can't find a spot, some casinos allow overnight parking and there is one in Cherokee. Trisha
