They are eye catching aren’t they Peter. I’m glad I got the plant when I started the garden even if it’s not edible lol

It’s a stunning flower, so much going on in its form. I can see why you’ve likened it to a Strelitzia. 😮 Amazing that such an exotic-looking flower is doing so well outdoor in the UK, Brett. 👍🏽

Of course I don't consider it similar to a strelitzia in appearance although they are both exotic looking, it's simply because it's also often given the common name bird of paradise flower lol. That's the conundrum of common names, they are confusing and not reliable lol

Thank you so much Anne, I’m afraid I’ve got thousands of videos lol. To be fair most of them are aimed towards unusual fruits which is my main interest 😁

Did you grow that from seed, or buy a whole plant. If so where did you buy it from. I have some seedlings but they’re not doing brilliantly!

I bought it as a plant about 50 cm tall in 2018, if I recall it came from Burncoose nursery. I believe they have them in stock right now 😁

@@lyonheart84 ahhh, I think I’ve made a mistake, the ones I have grown from seed are Caesalpinia pulcherrima, Mexican Bird of Paradise. Much the same but the flowers are mainly red not that I expect to get flowers!

Ah yes I've heard of that species, I believe it's slightly less hardy than this one. Once yours get big enough they will flower, they are fairly reliable I think 🤞
