By far the best Cajon Comparison video on youtube!! BY FAR!! Also probably the only one that goes through that many Cajons: precisely 27. Gives a very good idea of how they sound and very useful for who, like me, wants to buy one but doesn't know which one. And unfortunately I don't have a mnusic store that sells them nearby so I'm kinda' stuck with what I see on youtube and read on various websites. I'm only speaking for myself: this video helped me a lot to understand better how these various Cajons sound. Also very helpful that you play the same sequence on all of them; makes it a lot easier to understand the differences between them. Thank you! Very good quality content. Extremely helpful. I can't but subscribe and like this. And of course, watch it a few more times :D Cheers!

The Design Sevilla Traditional at 6:37 is the best one of all. I wish I could have found that one for sale somewhere. I wanted a classic Peruvian cajón with no snares, but unable to audition one, I opted to get the Gon Bops Alex Acuña Limited Edition. It arrives tomorrow. The snares are minimalistic, so I hope I can enjoy plenty of natural wood tone without too much rattle.

one of the best shoot out videos I ever saw regardless of the instrument. Are any of these tunable or adjustable for different pitches? I don't mean the foot damping pitch bend but the steady pitch? I stuck an sm57 inside one of these at a party on just the mic vinyl bag it came in. It sounded amazing.

I see a lot of the cajons I have been looking at in your video. Thanks so much for this video! I'm not a fan of the constant snare noise that is present no matter where you hit it on the front with some of these. Is it okay to flip it upside down or something to get away from the snare sound for the ones that have the snare mounted at the top? I know some people make cajons with a separate sound chamber for the snare and the bass sound and that's pretty neat.

hi, I'm an absolute beginner, and I fell in love with this amazing isntrument. Any chance you could suggest me which cajon to buy? I can't afford to spend a fortune, but I don't want to end up paying £40 and having a very bad one. Maybe under £150 would be great though. Probably I prefer the sound of the ones with snares, its more versatile from what I heard :) Thanks :)

What's funny (to me) is that you could probably simulate a snare by tossing some loose screws into the bottom, letting them roll around. That type of "buzzing" on a string instrument would drive me crazy.

In the pulpito model there are two video frame one with the classic snare sound and the other where seems you hit the same part but got a more dark sound (a kind of tailpiece snare switch). 2) I'm looking a cajon for a 5y old I'd like to buy not a mini or a toy but something usable at this age but also for the next . Something in the middle between mini and adult model. Can you suggest something? Thank you

I've listened to this a lot, wondering about the 'best' sounding cajon, and it's a very useful aid. I do wonder about the twanginess of a lot of the cajons - I understand the idea that it's creating a sort of snare drum effect, but is the distortion really attractive ?
@johndennison2769
2 жыл бұрын
It's a little more "traditional" that way. In modern times, people use the cajon to replicate the drum set and prefer the clean snare sound. So it's whatever you use the instrument for that determines what sound you want.
