Fred, thanks for doing this series and sharing your classic Cal 40 refit adventure. We're carrying the series playlist on our KZitem Channel and posting episodes to our social network sites. I'm sure our viewers will get hooked.

I've binged up to episode 9 and looking forward to the rest!! This is an incredible display of re-engineering . Schaefer should feature this as a whole section in their catalog -- all the spare parts you need for revamping a Cal 40 :)

Thank you very much for the great video. I have just got my hands on Cal 20, and will be watching this series to gain some experience in boat restoration.

Thanks for making these videos. I am actually doing the same project on the same year Cal 40. So your information is very well received and useful. The structure discussion in segment 6 is the information that I needed very much. I hope that you show us a video of your structure upgrade installations, kinda of before and after. Thanks a lot...Dale (1966 - Cal 40 "Kismet"

On a Cal 40 you know to reduce sail when the front bulkheads pop loose... Nice Boat. I'm a sucker for Lapworth design Cals.

I bought an Alberg 30 that had been on the hard for 13 years. This boat is in WAY worse shape than it looks!

Far better vessel IMHO than the later IOR Cal 40s.

How much total cost did you have in restoration?

Overall our 1969 39ft Pearson has cost us about 15,000 so far. Including the 7,500 we paid for the boat and the dingy. It's all worth it though for this lifestyle! Check out our videos too if you'd like , Episode 2 shows our refitting and even though after 8 years she sat in water, when we finally pulled her out of the water in Episode 4 she didn't even have a single blister! kzitem.info/news/bejne/w6eu3453fpSfgKg

Some people are in a position to take a free boat and make something out of it. Some people aren't.
