My aunt sent me two of those bulbs and I thought they had dried out. I put them in a Styrofoam cup with coco peat mix. It took a long time and thought they were not doing anything and I dug them up. To my surprise there were roots so I put it back in the soil and stuck it in a prop box. Those things exploded and now they are pupping. I love them!

I love this video! Recently my caladiums have been dropping and snapping even when they were watered, so i assumes the tubers were rotting. I decided to dig the bulbs up and sure enough... there was some rotting. I had to cut away the mushy parts and let them dry out a little bit and dry out the soil as well. 😞 all the leaves died, however I place them back in soil 1.5 weeks ago and I already have new leaves sprouting! ☺️ Caladiums are one of the most difficult plants for me personally to care for even though I adore them.

@@JessicaAngel I haven't tried to keep them in the winter yet but I will store them in my basement in early October as I did with my Calla lily. By March or April, the Calla lily started to grow even though it had no light and no water in the basement. So this winter will be my test. I live in BC. Canada so they need to go dormant quite early.

When I brought my Caladium right next to the window in early-afternoon Sun, it got a little bit of sun burn on one leaf despite temps being relatively cool in the room ( a bit under 25°C ). Update : Carefully repoted each tuber separately. One had been planted upside down, but grew well anyway. Since only one leaf ever had a brown spot, I tried indoors West window Sun again on a table about 12 inches away from the glass. After 4 sunny days, no burn mark and all the individual plants are doing well. No wilting no burning and active growth in every pot. Tip for indoors : place a stake in your pot when planting the tuber so you don't damage the roots or bulb later if you need to put one in. If you don't want the stake in the way while the plant is yet to grow tall, put a short one that you will switch for a taller one later in the same hole. Since the leaves grow relatively fast and keep seeking the window, staking will help make a much prettier display and allow the Sun to shine on the bottom smaller leaves of future new growths. I haven't tried supplement artificial light on top of the plant yet. It would probably fix the ''window-seeking'' problem. Couldn't find a 'Red Flash' this year due the Caladium shortage after the big 2022 hurricane hit Florida.

How did I end up with caladiums I never planted? I had a pot, sitting on the low stone planter edge, but cannot remember what it was before died. Then, these caladiums appeared out of nowhere! The soil in the pot was put there by me, and I never planted any bulbs! So how could I now have a pot full of caladiums? I was pretty sure caladiums were a bulb-type plant, so this is a true mystery! Also, in that same pot, another plant appeared that I never planted! It died, and I remover it, only to then find this caladium growing, and it keeps putting out more and more leaves...lots! I live in north east, Florida so our weather is much milder than you have in the UK, but we still do get a few freezes, and I must bring many of my plants inside the garage then. At this time I want to say that all your plants are absolutely gorgeous and everything you touch is magical! I'm a new sub and have been watching all your beautiful videos...so lovely. Thank you for all the knowledge you share during these daunting times. kristi

I noticed there were a lot of dead roots but new ones emergins so put it back. I'll check it again next week and if it hasn't improved I'll just have to store it in a bag like you. My thai beauty gave me a leaf within a day of planting it and now popping its second leaf out. So gorgeous.
