Calcifying odontogenic cyst was first described by Gorlin in the year 1962, hence given the name Gorlin cyst. It is a rare developmental odontogenic cyst. The cyst has the potential to calcify. Calcifying odontogenic cyst is extensively diverse in terms of its clinical features, histopathologic features and biological behavior. This diversity has led to many clinical variants of the cyst. One of the main characteristic feature of calcifying odontogenic cyst is presence of ghost cells in all variants of the cyst.
