Today (July 5, 2016) is the official first day of passenger service for Calgary Transit's all new "Mask" C-Train, also known as the Siemens S200. 63 of these cars have been ordered for replacement of many of the system's oldest U2 cars. These new cars contain many new features and improvements over previous car types, including heated floors, passenger "Infotainment" displays, and LED indicator lights around the door frames.
This video features a first look and ride in one of these state-of-the-art C-Train cars on the Calgary Transit Red Line. The first portion of the video is a ride on the Northwest leg from Tuscany station to Dalhousie station, with Mayor Naheed Nenshi operating the train (the train was taken over from him at Dalhousie station). The remaining portion is a ride on the South leg from Erlton-Stampede station to Canyon Meadows station.
This consist was numbered, from south to north, #2401-2402-2403-2404. This video was taken aboard #2402.
