I think I'm going to fly Round 2 in a total of 4 videos. The next will be from CP4 to around Idaho Ave in Hanford. This is about the halfway point in CP 2/3. Since I am still on vacation for another week, I'll fly "CP3" on Thursday or Friday morning. This way we can all see they ARE in fact working on it ... I'm looking at you, boondogglers ;-)

I mean they technically haven't laid a single mile of track, lol. But if I remeber correctly the state is only responsible for the right of way and super structure. The private investors/operators (which I suspect will be Brightline) are responsible for everything else including track, signaling, the stations, ect.

The black of the right of way is new. Is that asphalt? Great Video as always. Thank you for the videos.
@jasondroninaround

I think that black stuff is a very thin coat of liquid asphalt sealer. I assumed it was there to just protest against erosion because it got finished so much sooner than everything else. A lot of the farmers do that around here for a cheap form of asphalt pavement. They will put down a nice layer of base rock themselves. Then they only have to pay someone to come out and coat it.

I have thought for a while now that the right of way would be a great spot to hold a race before they lay down the tracks. Judging by all the barriers they have put up along the way, it seems other people have had the same idea. Maybe they could let some billionaires race on it in exchange for buying the CAHSR some of the TBMs they will be needing.

I believe those are less like tanks and more like water pressure buffers. As the irrigators go around opening valves and closing valves, this gives the water pressure somewhere to go besides breaking a pipe.

At best, this segment between Merced and Bakersfield will open in late 2030, and possibly not until 2033. Things would have had to have gone smoother early on, and this project would have needed all its necessary funding from the get-go, or at least readily available, to make that happen. Brightline West, with a very ambitious goal of opening its 218-mile route between Las Vegas and Rancho Cucamonga in time for the 2028 Olympics, has still yet to begin construction, and the chances of them achieving that goal is increasingly unlikely.

@@BoredCapturer lol my music that I use is probably about the only criticism might get on my videos. My dislike for using music from popular artists goes back a ways. I used to make my time lapses and would adjust the render FPS to make the video match the length of the song. Or I would do different things to make the video go along with the beat of the song. Too many times back in the day I would do all that work and upload the video just to have it muted for copyright. I could go the route of just listening to other people's videos and seeing what they're getting away with but then I would be using the same music as everybody else. The music I make recently has been evolving over time. When I first got my drone and started uploading to KZitem again, I told myself I was not going to deal with copyrighted music. I searched around and found this website called Loudly. I started out just using one single song for the entire video but this has slowly morphed into what I do today. I use several 2 minute songs where I play MC Dronin' and blend them together myself in DaVinci Resolve Studio. Some people tell me the music is kind of weird but I know I'm not going to get any muted videos and it's not going to be like anything you've heard before, Even within my own channel. Every video, I make a whole brand new custom soundtrack.

The future operators, Duetsche Bahn have just announced record losses and 30,000 job cuts in Germany. The California HSR will be bigger, and more expensive to operate paying American salaries. Ridership forecasts have been downgraded again in 2024 by CAHSR itself from an original 38m, now down to only 28m passengers per annum when the LA to SF leg is complete. I hope the taxpayers of California have deep deep pockets and love seeing them empty.
