I just got fitted for a complete set of HLs. They’re the real deal, very forgiving and added an easy 15+ yards to each club.

This might be a surprise, tested the “old” Paradyms against the Smoke … got fitted for Paradyms. Just had better numbers on everything. Felt nicer hitting Paradyms.

New is not always better, particularly with irons where launch and spin numbers differ between models. This shows why getting fitted matters!

Having turned 52 this week, I’ve almost got myself talked into an iron in this bracket. I will test everything I can but forgiveness and ball speed for an old man just may have to trump sexy. Thanks for the reviews guys. Informative as always. Take care guys.

27 degrees is the same loft as my old Mizuno MP32 5 iron...........

And if you go to get fit for these, they will tell you "wow! you hit this club 30 yards longer than your 7 iron"

On the Callaway website it says the standard Smoke AI is 28 degrees, not 27. You and Callaway are in agreement on the HL model, which is 30 degrees.

Sorry if we got that wrong. The HL is proving to be a good performer so far in the fitting bay

Nice review but your homework needs a brush up ! The standard ai smoke is 28 degrees not 27 !

My concern is stopping anything under a 8 iron on the green any thoughts on it ?
@Precision_Golf

A lot of irons are low lofted so a more traditional lofted club (6i at 30 degrees) will help. Depending how much forgiveness you need a Titleist T100 or Ping i230 will help with launch and spin

So are these irons classified as blades or not?
@Precision_Golf
4 ай бұрын
No, these are cavity backs. Blades are a very simple head with essentially no technology in, minimal forgiveness but as a result maximum control over distance but they give you very little margin of error. These heads have thinner, faster faces, lots of perimeter weighting to help off-centre shots and a lot of forgiveness

Another great review, I think with similar performance and a much better feel I’ll take the Srixon zx5 mk II.

The Srixons will certainly be a softer feel. Thanks for watching

Are these clubs worth trading in my Paradym X’s?

Ultimately it depends what you flight performance is with your Paradym irons but probably not a large difference

Is ai better than the epic irons?
@Precision_Golf
4 ай бұрын
Epic was very low spin indeed and certainly Ai Smoke is similar to that. Across the face AI Smoke probably just shades it but it is close
@nealfreeman01

What is your thought of getting fit with the smoke AI and just getting the irons lofted up?
@Precision_Golf
8 ай бұрын
The amount of movement on the heads will be limited and therefore restrict how much loft can be added so it will only make a small difference
