I've played all 3 of these Callaway heads and had similar experience. The Epic Max LS was a clear winner for me. It is a little longer than the others and I too had much tighter dispersion of shots with the Max LS. I paired it with a Ventus Blue TR 70S shaft.

Very good additional information for us guys. & Thomas you are easily carrying 300!!! Can't wait for your speed training update. You must be getting ready for Level 2 now?

I have a epic flash triple diamond and I could not be happier with the way it performs.It is slightly fade bias with a little more spin than my old 2017 epic sub zero. I would like to see you guys test one against the new LS. Thanks for another great comparison.

Used to be a Titleist guy… Recently converted 13/14 to Callaway… all ‘21 Epic woods, X-Forged, MD5’s and Chrome Soft X… really like how Callaway actually gives you something different to look at each iteration (unlike Tittleist)… oh, and as a military veteran it means a lot to me that Callaway offers a military discount. After nearly a decade, I found Titleist to be somewhat overrated… and having lived, and went to college in Carlsbad, found their camp a bit snobby 🇺🇸😎✌️

Thomas, not sure if the green-dot is their tour sleeve, with the flatter lie angle, or if it is just a -2/+1 sleeve, but if you are going to build a longer driver, have the Callaway guys send you their tour sleeve so that the sleeve can re-flatten the lie angle when you make the club longer. I demoed all the new Callaway heads yesterday, playing with their shaft matrix and then shaft settings and moveable weights, and I ended up purchasing the 9 degree Max LS - had it set up stock at 9 degrees with the weight half way out to the toe and it was a 13 launch 2100spin machine with anti-left protection built in. I haven't hit balls since November so my ball speed was just 155-158, but my carries were 270-285 and very repeatable. I did get a few low spinners in the 1600-1800, but the head is so stable that they didn't dive out of the air going left. For me, the Max LS has Driver of the Year potential because it's stable, it's tunable with the movable weight and the launch conditions it produces are gameable but long.

So I have the Flash sub zero and never felt the need to put the Mavrick in the bag - I never really like the look of the Mavrick. I will get fitted this spring for either the Epic Speed or the Max LS and we’ll see what happens.

I’m a 95 mph average swing speed with a Aoa of +2 on average. My misses tend to spin to much. FlightScope says I have a pull fade shot shape. Would you recommend the sub zero or the regular epic flash?
@thinkitsstillallowedfornow1093
3 жыл бұрын
You would be better off using the more forgiving drivers like the Max models...The Sub Zero is designed for center strikes for maximum performance. Plenty of drivers offer low spin and shafts to choose from...
@reidthompson6272

Same exact for me. Stuck at 2900-3100
@2ndswing

If you are hitting the center of the clubface often and still seeing high spin numbers, then maybe the Sub Zero is better. But generally we tend to lean toward a standard, high MOI model for golfers with that clubspeed.

@@2ndswing Thanks!!! It’s just so strange to have a positive AOA and 3200 ish spin. ST190 at 9.5 loft. Don’t know what to do.
@2ndswing
3 жыл бұрын
@@reidthompson6272 Yeah that's interesting. One thing you could try is adjusting the driver down in loft...it will open the clubface slightly, which may exaggerate a fade if you have one. But worth a try to lower that spin perhaps?

If you took those same 3 heads and put them with a player that had a 90mph clubhead speed would the outcome be the same? The only change being a shaft for a 90mph golfer...

I think one of the most important numbers here is the +/- 122 on the LS. He didn't hit the middle of the face every time and the spin rate was between 1900-2100.

Another New Zealand golfer! Yes, a lower loft would be better for me. I always say 100-110 feet in the air is best, and with my increased swing speed lately I'm hitting a 9-degree driver much higher

The green shaft adaptor uses the left handed cog to subtract 2 deg of loft. Lowering the loft to 7 deg, do you think Thomas will get 320 yards of carry?
@2ndswing
3 жыл бұрын
Thomas didn't think 310 carry was possible, and here we are...he could definitely get there with an optimized driver. Keep in mind, for most of our testing, Thomas is hitting a standard length drier at 9 degrees, not optimized for his swing.

SIM 2 & Epic Max LS has been testing pretty low on spin. Keep in mind the fastest way to reduce spin is to lower the loft of the club. CG and club design also helps - Thomas
