I like the argument that has been made in several other calls: even if the fetus was granted complete personhood, that does not give it a right to use another person's body to sustain itself. I.E. Pregnancy always takes a massive toll on the body nobody should be obligated to go through with that just because other people want to make pregnancy some super magical thing. They even point out how the main reason people get abortions is because of socio-economic reasons, like not having the money or support to actually raise a child healthily. Also, people can get pregnant more than once, just because someone doesn't have a baby now doesn't mean they never will. That's why it's called "Planned Parenthood" not "We Like To Kill Fetuses".

@apophis40123 The reason sex was frowned upon in the past was because by being promiscuous you could get sexual diseases, get pregnant when single, which obviously can still happen in todays days but it was looked down upon as shameful, and the illegitimate child normally suffered by being referred to as a bastard and taunted by other children. Plus it shows that women don't have any self respect. Women are more likely to be classed as whores if they just put themselves about even in todays' days.

If you believe a fetus is a person then abortion is morally wrong. If you don’t then it isn’t. I don’t. Hence it isn’t. Bodily autonomy is a terrible argument because that’s not a get out clause for murder. The point is that it is NOT murder.

@@candykit5382 that’s just your moral judgement. It’s not a fact. I agree with you that it isn’t murder, but I don’t agree with your reasons at all. Here’s a hypothetical. Conjoined twins who share one heart. Only one of them could possibly survive surgical separation. Does that twin have the right to pay to have the separation surgery without the consent of their twin, who is certain to die? I think this proves your argument is at least on shaky ground. That’s at least one situation where bodily autonomy is not the supreme moral end. Surely?
@candykit5382
5 күн бұрын
@@MrChiddler they both share a heart and are one conjoined entity and that is a choice and risk they decide to take. Assuming both are mentallly capable of making that choice. They share the organ so unless one is brain dead or theres a medical emergency forcing the procedure its up to them, which supports bodily autonomy between them. It is not one twin lending the other twin their organ for their survival. You dont seem to understand what bodily autonomy is if you think your argument was correct on any foundational principle of the subject. Insisting your unprovable moral opinion is a fact suggests you don’t know what facts are. If you believed abortion was murder you would not accept bodily autonomy as a choice. I will give you an example to prove that. If there were conjoined twins one of whom would be able to survive separation and one of whom would not, would it be morally ok for the o e that could survive to pay a surgeon to seperate them without the consent of the other?
