Thank you for this. Camomile is a good remedy for upset stomach, especially to counter bloating and/or gas. It has the effect of anti-acid. It also acts fast, right after drinking a cup of moderately hot tea made with it.

Nothing says calm like a cup of Chamomile Tea. I also love infusing the flowers in oil to make a mild baby soap bar which has a soft, sweet scent of honey.

Good day to you Dina, and thank you for your inspirational videos and for your informative generosity. I was raised loving camomile. My mother loves it too. I love to add spearmint leaves for a cooling evening tea in summer and I add white pine needles in the winter during sniffles and colds season. We sometimes add local raw honey as a sweetener. I’ve never infused mine for longer than a half hour. I will try letting it sit longer as you suggested 😀👍🏼

I love your voice, love listening to you and your many cute mannerism and humorous comments. Love your personality, you're a great teacher. Loved your "cap aside" as well, good idea :) My chamomile story... My husband had flu like symptoms from the shingles shot so I made a super strong chamomile infusion, like you showed us and he slept the whole day off and on, taking more tea when he woke up here and there and was fine the next day. I and my adult daughter fell asleep heavily within 1/2 hour that night as well and slept a SOLID 7 hours. I started a medicinal herb garden a couple years back and she was my first plant.

I heard that chamomiles benefits are not fully water soluble, thoughts? 🤔
@DinaFalconi

Thanks, water infusions hold plenty of the healing constituents, and I highly recommend them. Still, alcohol would extract other constituents, and so I make chamomile tinctures too. Generally, I prefer folks drink cups of infusion rather than tinctures, but sometimes tinctures can be more effective.

I drink chamomile tea most evenings, before bed, it has helped with my insomnia more than any other remedy I have tried these past two years. I do a simple or blend, and drink while it is still warm. currently my favorite is sassafras root & chamomile together, simply for the flavor, and sassafras root is fresh now. I never thought of steeping it for 4 hours for more potency; thank you for sharing your suggestions!

We have often used chamomile, quite effectively, as a treatment for pink eye. I steep pure chamomile for a long time and then create an eye wash with it to rinse my eyes out. It works every time. Some people use eye drops and others rinse their eyes in the infusion by putting it in a narrow glass (like a tall shot glass) and putting their eye in it. Love this plant.

I have heard chamomile shouldn't be steeped longer than 10 minutes or it becomes dangerously potent. I see this has not been your experience!

Thanks for your comment. Longer steeping brings out the bitterness and the minerals which can be helpful.

Why do You prefer hot extraction over cold steeping?
@DinaFalconi
2 жыл бұрын
Hello Everelet, hot is the way I was taught to make it. I think with heat (and long steeping) you'll also draw the minerals. Still I like the idea of cold too, for gentle volatile compound extraction.
