I look at that image of a skeleton drinking tea, and you know what I saw? "Yep, that's me. I'm a skeleton, and I'm on my break. I'm part of Dracula's army, y'know? It's not exactly something you ask for, especially when you're dead. Never thought it would happen when I was alive, that's fer sure. But I guess being a skeleton has its perks. A never ending supply of bones to throw is one of them for some of us, I personally never got the appeal. The others prefer to train during their free time, but not me. I don't got no bones to pick with anyone. And if I may be honest, I'm just waiting for one of them Belmonts to come and put me to rest again. Until then, I'll live in my undeath the same way I lived in life - relaxing, with a cup of tea in hand."

CastleVania having excellent music is nothing new but I'm glad to see all the CV64 love in this playlist. An underappreciated title by non (and some) CastleVania fans.
@Afreshio
Жыл бұрын
This was my first CastleVania. It's in my opinion one of the most atmospheric and especially the music. It's very particular. The OST highlights such an atypical title. It has its problems, basically in the tech department. The physics is funky, player movement control is clunky especially jumping mechanics, collision detection with platforms is unpredictable and the camera movement control is just trash. But goddamn my 8 year old self was so scared of playing this game. I also didn't have the Controller Pak so I couldn't ever save the damn file. It was basically a roguelike with permadeath once I shut down the console I lost all my progress so I could never made important progress. This perceived danger incremented the spookyness of the game. Many many years later I downloaded a 64 emu and CV64 rom and started playing, this time using key binding insta savings like checkpoints to offset the frustrating poor implemented mechanics regarding platforming. I got very far but never finished the game. Some day I'll restart another session and finish this game once and for all, and play the sequel, Legacy of Darkness. I also made an exchange with a classmate who had an actual Controller Pak. I gave him, temporarily my CastleVania and he gave me Duke Nukem 64... lol. And the asshole never returned it! But I also was too awkward to actually ask for the damn game. I should've kept the game he gave me though. Dumbass teenager me. Fell for an obvious robbin'

I really like that this skeleton knows when it's time to sit down and smell the roses (coffee). He's just taking break. Listen, just because the lord of darkness, Dracula, offers a competitive salary and 401K to every monster that Hector brings to life doesn't mean that this skeleton isn't entitled to his legally required hour lvnchbreak and two unpaid 15 minutes breaks. They have sick days in Castlevania, but you gotta accrue them. And this guy is still sorta new. I wouldn't recommend overworking yourself when you're employed by one of the most evil forces around, but there is also a Belmont that shows up every 100 years or so. YES, you might be saving money for your skeleton family to finally own a home, but you see how this market has gotten. 100 years is a blink upon the face of the eternity that it is to save up a decent downpayment on a cottage near wherever the Castle is parked this century.

Thanks for this playlist, great picks from new and old games in the series (Super CV 4 is one of my favorite OSTs in general.) I need to rereview the N64 Castlevania soundtracks again, I missed a few great ones.

Michiru Yamane is a fucking G.O.A.T. Her, Ayame Kojima and Koji Igarashi are one hell of a team.

Alright don't get me wrong, I LOVE SOTN, but that is orchestra-based newer Castlevania. Castlevania IV did something pretty phenomenal when it introduced more somber & bass-oriented grooves. I think something based on that would capture the essence of a TRUE "CalmVania" soundscape. Wish more ppl would have had the experience with that game my generation did. The game itself received some heavy criticism, but the soundtrack was completely groundbreaking. I don't think Symphony would have had the soundtrack it did unless IV paved the way...

I see youtube channels that play gothic tunes, but none of them compare to what the Japanese do.

That N64 game was not the best (I enjoyed it tho) but the soundtrack was definitely Castlevania level.

Finally! A lot of music I don't know from a franchise I know very well, and a killer background to boot. That's worth a I like I say.

at 51:42 it reminded me of another song, and i thought i'd go crazy if i couldn't remember...it was Cask of Amontillado by Alan Parsons Project :) i wonder if that was intentional. either way, both incredible songs, and, these soundtracks are INCREEEDIBLE!

This skeleton has taken the concept of the Collarbone much further than nature intended. Mine (skeleton) is jealous
