This is the second of three videos taken at the Bentley (Calne) Model Railway Club's annual show held at the Calne Leisure Centre on Sunday 14th April 2024. This was the 28th exhibition organised by the Club and featured 12 layouts with a number or trade stands.
'Bruckless' is a 3 Ft Gauge layout by Andy Cundick. It is modelled on the County Donegal narrow gauge system of Ireland which pioneered the use of the first railcars in the UK.
'Swanish' by Ian Sandell uses the EM Gauge and draws infomation from the Swanage Railway which is a heritage line in Dorset, Southern England.
'Dounreay' was built to the HO scale by Alan Monk. It is a fictional branch line in the far north of Scotland built at the turn of the 20th Century to serve a fishing village and retained to serve civil and nuclear facilities built on a former RAF base. This is an example of a micro layout and the era modelled is 1968 to 1972.
'Gemto Ikkehavn' is an HOe layout built by Richard Williams to the HOe scale (narrow gauge). 9mm track is used to represent the railway's actual gauge of 2 Ft 6 inches. The layout was inpired by lines in Norway and Denmark. Although this was a night-time visit, during the day the line features goods and passenger workings, the former being mainly serving the stone and fishing industries.
'Sud Harz Eisenbahn by Paul Steedman is on HOm scale model based on a metre gauge railway system in the Harz Mountains in western Germany. Although the actual railway in this part of Germany closed during the Cold War (unlike the part of the network in Eastern Germany) there is a proposal to reopen part of the route in the future as a heritage line. Several HSB steam locomotives can be seen in action.
