Rightly dividing is the missing link in the Calvinist's mind.

This reminded me of a documentary I saw on the tragedy of Air Canada Flight 797. One of the survivors claimed she had lived through the incident because "God was with her." Her Bible wasn't burned along with everything else, so that was a "sign" that God had wanted her to live. If that was the case, why didn't God save the 23 people who had died in the fire? Why did He let her live, and not them? I don't think people like her intend to impugn God, but they still imply that He is arbitrarily partial to some people, and not others, and as a result, portray God as some heartless, careless dictator who decides who lives or dies based on whether He likes you or not. Thankfully, God gives all of us grace, despite the fact we were all His enemies.

No, salvation is by grace thru faith. That is what determines who gets saved, not whether or not God likes you.

Thank you so much for this series brother! I have a daughter and son in law who are Calvinists...I can't tell you how confused they both are. I am going to try and get them to watch this series...you explained everything perfectly.

Yes, God is in total control Proverbs 16:33 The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord. Amos 3:6 when disaster comes to a city, has not the lord cased it. Romans 11:36 For of him, through him and to him are all things. Sure all things are of God he creates light and darkness, good and evil, the Lord does it all.

What is interesting is how some think God planned everything while we know God cannot sin either or lie for that matter. Examples Numbers 23:19 "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Titus 1:2 "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;" Hebrews 6:18 "That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:" Also that God is Holy and righteous. To suggest some of the things that people say he planned would suggest that he did. That he planned for somebody to do evil? Which by Calvinist logic would make God not Holy.

1 Peter 1:16 "Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." Psalm 22:3 "But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel" Isaiah 57:15 "For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the heart of the contrite ones."

Last week the pastor i listened to said God is sovereign over sin..but he doesnt tempt us to sin or decree sin or the author of sin but is sovereign over it. I know hes a stealth calvinist but trying to hide it. Am i correct?
