I have to agree with Newton here. I strongly disagree with those that claim that simply drafting C.J. Stroud would've made the Panthers much better this season. Stroud has a good offensive line in front of him in H-Town while Young has one of the 8 worst offensive lines in the NFL in the 2023-24 season. Defensive coordinators learning to take Adam Thielen away doesn't help matters.

Let’s don’t forget the Panthers earned the 1st pick honestly in 2011 by being dreadful. They didn’t trade away their best offensive players twice in one season. They didn’t trade away 2 first rounders and a 2 rounder to get the first pick. Above all the 2011 first pick was a NFL level talent who broke records in his first few games. The 2011 first pick was a man amongst boys and redefined the position. The 2011 first pick was one of the toughest SOB I’ve seen in the 28 years of Panthers football. The 2011 first pick had passion and fire. The 2023 first pick has none of these qualities whatsoever.

I told people this after the draft that CJ stroud was easily getting set up for success compared to the other rookie QBs that were taken in the first round…I mean you look at coaching, players, schemes or the fact that CJ has Laremy Tunsil covering his blindside you realize that he is easily in a much better situation than Bryce Young or AR15…. It doesn’t mean the other two won’t be good or won’t have successful team seasons later on but for a rookie QB CJ definitely was put in the best situation and I think if Bryce was put in Houston instead of Carolina he would easily be doing way better….
