Camera Angles and Visual Storytelling | Stop Motion Tutorial
If you're familiar with my videos, you probably noticed that I tend to change camera angles often. In this stop motion tutorial, I go over why I change camera angles and how this contributes to the visual storytelling. Every film has two stories: audio and visual. Both need to work in tandem to guide the viewer on what to feel, look at, and ultimately think. My films are silly, but I try to make them a whole story all within one minute.
I'm a huge fan of the TV show The Office. I love the documentary style with the often sloppy camera work. To me, this makes the show more grounded and real. I try to do that with all of my videos, and I feel that camera angles help with the immersion you want the viewer to feel while watching.
In this stop motion tutorial, I take a look at one of my most simplistic videos and break down my thought process with the camera angles and visual storytelling.
Camera angles and visual storytelling. I hope you find this stop motion tutorial helpful and that within the ideas I present in this tutorial, you'll find some inspiration to further develop your own films.
