This movie really won me over after repeat viewings. Its based on Cameron Crowes relationship with his Father. The screenplay was kind of weak but what saved the movie for me was the Beautiful Cinematography and use of music throughout Drews travels across America! It's a tribute to Kentucky, Tennesee, Tom Sawyer, Middle America, and the realities of Life & Death. I love movies about Journeys and Cameron Crowe definitely tackles a tough subject matter about Death & grieving. Crowes movie could've been your typical Hollywood melodramatic and depressive chick flick special. Surprisingly, the movie was nothing like that. It's about the power of family relationships and healing by grieving. By the end, Crowe was able to create a movie that was both memorable, funny, honest & spiritually healing. Definitely recommend this to anyone dealing with the Death of a friend or family member. It's very relatable and reminds us whether or not we're spending enough time with our loved ones. Life is short and there is a beautiful line in the movie where Crowe writes, " We should have taken this trip years ago!" The line is so sad but true. Drew drives across America with his Dad's Ashes in the front seat, wishing he would've taken this trip years ago when his Dad was still alive. A Beautiful film about the power of healing with a lil help from your closest family and friends. ❤
