The Camino Portugues por la costa from Porto gives you the time to experience 2 cultures equally( Portuguese & Spanish) as almost half of the stages occur in each country. It has become a popular Camino as it's relatively easy as it's mostly flat has the Atlantic Ocean as it's companion for most of the journey with countless beaches, coastal fishing villages, great food (particularly seafood) & great wines.

Thanks for this video! I just came back from walking Porto - Santiago via coastal and spiritual variant, Finisterre & Muxia and back to Santiago, and then walked back to Porto through the coastal and spiritual again. It was such an amazing Camino.

Thanks Bernard you enjoyed your Camino so much that when you got back to Santiago you walked the whole Camino back to Porto. Muxia & Finisterre are a perfect way to continue your Camino I did it 6 years ago & it was great watching the sunset on the Atlantic Ocean.

Great video. Going to walk the camino this September. I'll be 64 September 1 and was having a hard time deciding between the Francis or Portugues. The Camino Francis I will be pushed for time because of the length of it, or I can be more relaxed and do the Portuguese. I don't want to feel like I am in a rush to finish. This video made my mind up for me, the Portuguese it is. Bonus is I love the ocean and warm weather.

Thanks Dwain glad that you liked it, the Camino Portugues is gaining in exposure because of a vareity of reasons is mostly flat so it appeals to people of all fitness, not too long 280kms so that it can be completed in under 2 weeks, it starts off in a great city Oporto then follows northwards along beaches, fishing villages & great scenery & September is probably the best month, I started September 7th-18th & has 2 cultures Portuguese & Spanish with their traditions, great food & of course is a great reward on your birthday. Buen Camino from Canberra Australia

Thanks Amanda glad that you enjoyed it the Camino Portugues is fantastic from Porto all along the Atlantic coast but you will enjoy the last kms from Vigo to Santiago as both the central & the coastal join in Redondela. If you had time in Vigo try & visit the magical Islas Cies at the mouth of the harbour just a short ferry ride as a day trip it is well worth visiting this national park, Buen Camino from Canberra Australia

Thanks so much for the video! What music (Irish? Scottish?) is that playing in the last half?
@JoeCarmona
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your inquiry the last two songs are: 'The Song of the Sun' by Mike Oldfield inspired by Galician folk group Luar Na Lubre- the original title 'O Son Do Ar' meaning 'The Sound of Air' which I have used in my other Camino's videos The last song 'Aires de Pontevedra' by Carlos Nunez a Galician bagpiper, the song was the theme for the Spanish film 'Mar Adentro' (Sea Inside) starring Javier Bardem. It has a strong happy feel, a sense of accomplishment so I used it to finish up in Santiago, Buen Camino

@@leonekarzon5389 Thanks Leone , now that at long last our international borders are open I too miss the Camino & hopefully next year I can travel back to Spain to do my 8th Camino. Coming from the Gold Coast you will love the Camino Portugues coastal rute I found it very relaxing & laid back, not too many hills & wonderful beaches with real surf. Great food & great culture & although I was born in Spain & I found the Portuguese a gentler quieter people than the louder Spaniards, I hope that you fulfill your desire to do a Camino in 2022 & you will be hard pressed to find better cities than Porto & all the coastal towns in Portugal then on the Spanish side Bayona, Vigo & Pontevedra in 11-12 days of Camino. Buen Camino

What camera(s) and editing software did you use
@JoeCarmona
2 жыл бұрын
For the Camino Portugues coastal route I used a GoPro 6 & my Pixel phone for still shots & my editing software is Power Director 19. I shot it in 4 K but my new GoPro 10 can shoot at 5.3 K & has much better stabilization which is great as I do a lot of offtrack hikes & rock scrambling when you can't use your hands to direct the camera.
