First car in 1979 was a 67Fastback and i worked at an auto parts store as a teen so got speed equipment at cost Spent about 40hrs grinding on ports and ended up with a 6700rpm 289 that ran 12.70 which wasn't bad in those days for a kid that built his own engine....flipped err in my early 20s being stupid

Interesting choice of carburetor with the Thermoquad. it was extremely lean at first. and that vacuum advance should be facing straight forward. at least during initial timing. but it seemed to sound pretty good in the end.

Oh my goodness! That sounds like a beast. I’ve got a ‘93 f150 with a 302 and a 1994 Bronco with a 351w. There’s a big difference between the two. I’ve had the Bronco almost four years, it runs high rpm, when you want it to. I think someone in the past did a little work to this 5.8. It’s pretty quick for a full size Bronco. Not complaining.

@@maniacmachanic9870 it's easy to get it right the first time if you pull the valve cover and see what valve is opening when it's on top dead center but I didn't want to take the cover off and my little brother had me using the wrong set of timing marks then this distributor has no room to really move I'd would have been right on if I would have never took the distributor out for my dang truck

We were working on a 79 Futura and put the distributor in and the carb on. We also wore it out trying to crank it. We had the fuel pump wired backwards.

Sounds and looks so familiar, I have 351W in my boat, and the 302 in one of my cars. Nice. Put Pertronics to the boat (it originally had marine points that look similar to the car points but can rew over 5000), and a GM HEI with Ford fitting base to the 302. Almost goofed with it because 351 has different firing order, and put two wires "as usual", like used to in the boat...

In all the excitement it might be a good idea to double check main inline fuse to ensure the correct size fuse per the conductor amperage rating table.. Do this will ensure a healthy marriage conductors and the insulation that keeps the smoke / ghost in instead of becoming a CARBBQ

It sucks when they fight ya like that, We usually add the dizzy last because of monkey shines like this, had a bunch go right and pop off with just a twist of the cap, many others in and out with plug 1 and dizzy multiple times. Sounds good

Some of these aftermarket distributor companies don't take into account the extra deck height of the 351w and try to pass off a 289/302 distributor body in its place rather than a proper taller 351w body. Something to watch for. Not only is the gear different, so is the height of the body. 😉 Sounds damn good though, fellas! 🤘🤘🤘

I bet it will sound mean through some tailpipes. Can you clock the distributor alittle more counter clockwise so the vacuum advance is more at 5 o’clock ? That might help out alittle.

Not really because the cap clips hit and there's another module on the other side of the vacuum can hopefully it will sound good because the exhaust is next

Lol yeah probably not a good idea but with Alost no adjustment on the distributor and the balancer being marked 5 different ways and being to lazy and impatient to just pull a plug to check this is what you get good thing is cam survived ford's tend to have a bit more mating surface on the cam to lifter setup then what GM does

I love the street demon carb. But I haven't been able to completely tune the secondaries from having a lean stumble. And I've trying everything, including 3 different jet changes. Have you figured out a solution to this?

@@CCAutoWorks Yeah I've adjusted that until I'm blue in the face. Can't quite find the butter zone. It's great if roll into the throttle, just can't stab it. Might breakdown and install a wide band o2. Figure out for sure where the AFR is. Thanks!

Aluminum intake long tube headers advance the timing a bit maybe but a little cam and it should run pretty good you could do under drive pulley and a e fan conversion rear end gears help too

That balancer sounds sort of sketchy with all the markings for TDC. At least you figure it out. It sounds bad ass, that cam is really choppy.

@@CCAutoWorks changed the complete front suspension. Connected subframs. Surtrac rear end. 5 speed TKO. Tubed to get a 305/50/17 tire. It's nothing to break the tires loose at 60 mph. I have another 1966 Mustang with a mild 302.

I did the problem was is the distributor hits everything the intake the thermostat housing so you don't have any room to to advance or retard so we had to keep jumping a tooth at a time tell we finally dropped it in where it was advanced enough to set the timing right where we wanted it doesn't make sense but the lak of room was killing us

1972 351Windsor ..30 over foxbody swap ,edelbrock performer intake BBK headers,pipes x-pipe,full exhaust with cutouts and built from ground up all maximum motorsports ,torque are, panhardbar ect ,ect cleaned up,heads screw in studs stuff done to em,All EFI in a 91mustang 4:10 carbon fiber clutch packs should be fun .
