Cedar looks good--for about 3 months and then it’s a disaster.just ripped up my own Cedar mistake that was bug eaten and rotted .In the future trying to pressure wash it they will end up beating the hell out of it since it’s so soft-That homeowners gonna regret using that stuff.you guys did a beautiful job building it though....

We suggest using a sealer like penofin to help for long-term life of the deck. Homeowners were going to seal there own deck on this job.

What did you do with the board closest to the wall, you can only fit the drill on one side. An on the outer edge board, won't the outside screw hole be visible? What do you do when the outer board has a lip going outside the frame?
@Warren3carpentry

This deck job did have some face screws in those areas. However majority of the screws were used in the Camo fastener system. There are some other clips n such u can purchase also. For against walls and such.

Question why use bolts going into the post to support the load of the deck, why not notch out the post and rest the 2x10 on it.
@Warren3carpentry

That would offset the hand rail then. At leist for how I built it. There is definitely more than one way to build decks! Also building inspector wants it that way.

@@Warren3carpentry notching a 4x4 will weaken the post too much to be a suffecient railing post

DCA 6 prescribes minimum 6 X 6 post and allows notching, the post to beam connection to the 4 X 4 in the video not so much. You also might want your crew to not install any joist hangars upside down.

Curious on why you disn't use some sort of metal post base to keep the post off of the comcrete...They will start to rot in a few months

Would you say the Camo Jig system is better than the Kreg jig for building a Composite deck not using fasteners? I was going to go with the Kreg jig but after seeing the Camo seem like less steps and looks good too?

I would say camo is better. No pre drilling

@@Warren3carpentry Screws are cheaper using the Kreg System though. Depending on the size deck you build can get expensive.

I would use the short length stainless steel screws that camo has. Very small and hard to see!
